Blizzard Blast- Hiit and/or Metabolic Workout??

Cathlete
Are the Blizzard Blasts considered to be Hiit or Metabolic Workouts?? I'm trying to keep a list of all of my metabolic workouts.

I too have wondered if the Blizzard Blasts are hiit workouts, steady state or metabolic... or perhaps all three are used within the various blasts. :confused:o_O Perhaps Cathe will give us her opinion...;)

Candice, Cathe has excellent articles in her blog that answer your question. Here are links to two of them, but you can explore this interesting topic further by simply using the search bar when in the blog section of the website.

Hiit (High Intensity Interval Training: a short period of tough cardio work - usually less than 1 minute - followed by short periods of less intense active recovery - such as walking around to catch your breath  :p - repeating this cycle several times)

Metabolic workouts (movements designed to raise the metabolism and gain that 'after-burn effect' through raising the heart rate while using resistance - generally with lights weights or one's body weight)

Healing11, Cathe has a metabolic rotation - January 2014. It doesn't include programs released in the last two years, but may give you some more ideas to add to your list. I too am keeping lists of the various types of workouts so I know what to pick from on a given day. :)

Thanks Jane, this is helpful. This is always a point of confusion for me. I do wish metabolic was a category on Cathe's website just as strength, circuit, step, hiit etc are listed.

I found that the blizzard blast almost mimics the workout that it is on. Like the legs blizzard blast alternates cardio and weights just like the workout does. So maybe going by the title or type of main workout is on the dvd, the blizzard blast will be similar. At least that's how I categorize them for me and my workouts.
