barbell & weight set ?

Cleo

Cathlete
I'm shopping around for a barbell & weight set and want to get the one that Cathe uses that can be purchased at Wal-mart. I can't tell from the store's site whether or not this barbell supports Olympic weights. I already have an Olympic curl bar & weights and want to make sure that any new bar I buy will be compatible.

Any feedback from those of you who have this weight set will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!
Cleo

Bumping this for Cleo hoping someone knows the answer. In the meantime Cleo, have you ever checked the Troy Lite set? It is wonderful and Cathe has used it in some of her workouts. I'll be back with a link if you are interested.

Debbie, what about that REALLY cheap set that you posted months ago, you oughta tell her about that one. I bought three, remember? And to be honest I want to get another, just because I want the xtra weights. I was planning on asking you if you still have that site address....now I did!! Thanks

Debbie,
What's the major difference between the Wal-mart one and the Troy lite system? Are they pretty comparable (size, max weight, etc.)?

Briee, are the weights for the cheaper one rubber or vinyl? I couldn't tell from the site.

Thanks!

Hi Briee and Cleo! I am not sure which set you were referring too??? Was it the Walmart set? If so, here is a post from SNM back in Feb. concerning the differences. Let me know if I can help more. HI BRIEE! where ya' been GF???

"Hi,

The troy set is higher quality and the weights are metal covered with rubber. The Walmart weight set uses vinyl weights with concrete inside. I think you will be pleased with either product, but for only $19.99 you can’t go wrong with the Walmart set.

Oh come on Debbie....you remember that site that advertised the large plastic weights (look like Cathe's) and barbell for 14.99 shipping included. (actually they were 19.99 and then went on sale - we got a new computer, otherwise I'd have the info in the memory somewhere). REMEMBER????? I really like mine!! I'm sooo sorry I can't remember the site - I can't even remember the company.

Debbie....your brain is much more intact then mine...you've had less children. Think, think, think.
