Your time of the month>Can you still exercise thru it??

I do work out right through it. No matter how I feel, it always helps. But to be fair, I never feel that bad. Just a little crampy.

When the doc did my diagnostic lap and diagnosed the endometriosis, he went ahead and lasered an implant that had immobilized my ovary... I was TTC at the time so I need my ovaries mobile. :) It did make a difference in my cramping though. Endometriosis can be managed various ways, and I have seen many woman do well on OCs (oral contraceptives). I do know that those patients who bi-cyle or tri-cycle pills (before Seasonale) reported that TTOM was worse but worth it to skip cycles. That sneaky endometrium can implant anywhere... there have been cases of women spitting up blood during TTOM becasue of the implants on the lungs. It can be MISERABLE!! I am hoping Seasonale is a wonder drug for you!

Oh my, yes you can participate any activity you like.

I was thinking in terms of feeling like exercising. Maximus is right. The cramps with endometriosis can make it a challenge to do much of anything. I swear my cramps were worse than labor, a time in my life when I wasn't in the mood for IMAX (I am not a superwoman like some of you ladies... I wish I was :).

Day one is often a lower intensity workout, but otherwise, it doesn't have an effect on my routine. Though if we're talking sleep: days 1 and 2, I definitely feel the need for an extra hour of sleep!

My TOM feels like I am in labor and I can't do much of anything. My back is killing me, by belly is so swollen the only thing I can wear is sweat pants. I usually only miss a day or 2 of working out, and most times weight training is ok. Cardio does relieve the cramping a bit, but I'm so tired and bi@#$y I just lay on my bed covered with the heating pad.

I do excerise that time but sometimes I will feel fine when I start but towards the end I feel really crampy but this is from cardio.

You mean during MENSTRUATION...oops, sorry I said it "loud".
I can do it. I rarelly have pain or discomfort during those days. I usually feel a little bit more tired, but nothing that may prevent a workout.

Well gotta admit I do suffer abit during..I'm gonna say the word....M-E-N-S-T-R-U-A-T-I-O-N!!!! Give me a high five!! I did it!! Anyhow, was nice to hear from others on this topic as I know it is hard for me for the first two days and I also can't find anything to fit me because I get so bloated and the cramps leave me feeling like I am 100 years old. I tend to want to grab my husbands jeans to wear.
I started this thread because I didn't know what everyone else was doing that was having a hard time. Should I push myself thru it or rest. So it was nice to have everyones feedback as everyone here encourages everybody else. So thanks everybody!
Have a great day!
Charlotte~~:)

This is so wierd. I started today and was wondering how you ladies deal with it too. I've worked out during TTOM but a little less intense. Most of the time I take a day or two off. I do have bad cramps but what derails me is how literally exhausted I am and the fact that my first day or two is heavy and I basically have to wear the super-duper extra-long wrap around the underwear extra padding protection - and that does not feel too lovely when I'm sweating. My periods aren't as bad as they used to be. I went on the pill when I was about 18 and my periods went from 10 days to 3-4 and the cramps almost disappeared and now I only get cramps the first day or two. I've often wondered if I have endometriosis (spelling??). My doctor has never said anything during my exams though. I think you should do what you feel like doing personally. Listen to your body.

If you feel too tired or have cramps, etc., I think you should rest. I do get those symptoms from time to time. I think the old rule "Listen to your body" applies here. Also, everybody is different.;-)

TTOM doesn't stop me from doing anything that I want to do. And, since I have stepped it up a notch these last few years, TTOM is lighter.

Just to add a little humor to this thread--I am as regular as a clock, I mean literally TO THE MINUTE--and I ALWAYS get it on Monday nights during council meetings. ALWAYS.

So I keep asking myself, what is it about these people that makes me bleed?:D
