Your Favorite 'Clean' Meal?

My husband and I used to eat at this Chinese buffet that served deep fried sweet potatoes. Clean it ain't, but man, it was tasty. (Didn't strike me as particularly "Chinese" either.)

Thought I'd chime in.
My quick favorate dinner would be:
A large mixed green salad (any mixed greens you may have) and grilled chicken that was marinated in low fat Italian or Cesar dressing before being grilled on the BBQ or Forman grill. I slice it, saute' some red onion and if I have feta I'll put a little on top.
Lunch is usually turkey on whole wheat with light mayo or mustard and sliced tomato.

jillybean, those sweet potato fries sound GREAT! I love to experiment with stuff like that!

I, like Honeybunch, have salad, either spinach or mixed greens with grape tomatoes and white meat chicken or turkey (sometimes Tuna) with Lite dressing during the week. On the weekends, I have it with grilled chicken breast, walnuts, steamed asaparagus, and some kind of fruit (like peeled and sliced granny smith apples! Yum!)

This thread sounds delicious!!! Shall I put these into the recipe section I built on my site? Or would you ladies rather they just stay here?

RE: Honeybunch......

Another Sag! I'm surrounded by them...my significant other is a Sag, so is my boss, my father, and an ex-boyfriend.

Bad part about being a Sag, especially if your birthday is in the middle of December, is that it's so close to Christmas. I always felt bad for Sag's whose relatives just combine (they say) birthday and Xmas, which means poor Sag gets only one gift.

Please do and can you post your web address??? :)

Also - for those that use chicken or turkey.....would it still be considered "clean" if you use canned or frozen meats?

Thanks!

Jillybean where art thou?????

Okay, got the sweet potatoes and oat bran cereal (any specific brand?) Now what exactly do we do with it all. I think I have a pretty good idea, but do you coat it with something to make it stick?? ETC... Also where do you get the thai seasoning, homemade? These sound great!!!!!!!

A favorite clean meal

I love grilled salmon w/grilled tomatoes w/garlic, on a bed of baby spinach with just a dab of pesto.. YUMMM!

RE: A favorite clean meal

I just love this recipe that I got from the Weight Watchers Vegetarian cookbook. I don't have the exact recipe handy but the key ingredients and steps are:

head of cauliflower
1 can of black beans
1 can of diced tomatoes and
LOTs of Indian type spices like curry powder, turmeric, etc.

Just stir fry spices in a little oil, then add the cauliflower florettes. Then add the tomatoes and simmer covered for a while. Add the beans and heat through. You're done, va va voom.

This requires NO salt either (really!) and is only like 2 pts per serving so I usually eat 2 servings, glutton that I am. I love, love, love this as a meal. I am the only one in my house that likes this but I make it just for ME and eat it over a couple of days for lunch. I really love Indian food so is the cat's meow for me.

I do dip them in Egg Beaters or an egg white first. I usually peel and cut 3 small sweet potatoes (for me and hubby to share) then I roll them in thai spice (my husband likes Lawry's) and crushed up Kashi Crunch or Oat Bran cereal. Then just throw them on a sheet and bake them at 350 degrees. Sometimes it takes 15 min, sometimes longer. I have no idea why. Could be the ripeness of the potato I guess. I usually just peek into the oven after about 15 min. and if they look done, I take them out and gobble them up. They are so tasty! You don't even need ketchup! Hope you like them too!

RE: Here I am!

I answered this in the middle of this thread, hope you can find it. Sorry, my computer broke down last week so I have been absentee. I was SO happy to see the Pre-Sale when I logged back on. WOO HOO!!!!

I like fast meals, so I'll go with a tossed salad (with dark lettuce, red pepper, tomatoes and a handful of sunnie seeds--no dressing), a microwaved yam (with a bit of fructose/cinnamon topping, just enough to add a bit of flavor, and a sprinkle of ginger) and a black bean salad (or heated)(black beans---or, better yet, black soybeans---combined with corn and drained chunky salsa--saving the liquid part to add to rice cooking water). As a beverage, I'll take some roibos tea (many times the antioxidant value of green tea) sweetened with a bit of stevia or a combo of agave nectar and stevia.

Oh this sounds fabulous - you must be a veggie too - I never eat dressing on salads either and this sounds like a great topping. Flax oil gets a little old sometimes.
