You think you're in shape until . . .

I participated in a research study at the local university tonight for motor skills and physical fitness. Talk about a workout! I did great on the sit-ups and push-ups (thanks to Cathe's videos!!) but the "pacer" (wind sprints) kicked my butt :(
They also measured long jump, kicking, throwing, catching, leg press and more plus calculated body fat %. I'll eventually get a copy to see how I compare to others in my age group. It was fun, but shows there's always room for improvement ;)

I agree, I bet you did a lot better than most people. I love finding out where I can improve, it sets a new goal for me. I've always considered myself to be pretty 'in shape.' When I joined my first gym they did a fitness test and I saw that my flexibility wasn't just bad, it was terrible. That's when I decided I needed to set that as a goal. It'll be neat to see how you compare!

That is cool! I use to be a guinea (sp??) pig in college for exercise physiologists. It was great, but tough!

How did you get involved in now? I would love to see where I stand now, 10 years later! lol

Kathy, I'm sure you did fantastic. It's going to give you a big boost of confidence when you get your results. I know when I first started working out in a group again, I was eager to see where I fit in with other people my age group and how I compared with people younger than me. It's great to know that younger folks (I'm 45) and even younger guys thought I was hardcore.

Congratulations on taking the challenge.

That does sound like fun! Keep us posted when you get the group results. I, like the others, am betting that you did better than most.

Kathy,

I had to smile when you said "pacer". My DD would almost get sick to her stomach with anxiety when she knew the pacer test was coming up in gym class. Being quite athletic, she would worry more about not beating her previous score or that someone would last longer than her. Never done it myself but heard it is really hard so good for you!
