YOU KNOW YOU'RE A RUNNER WHEN.........

not there yet but on my way LOL. You Know You Are A Runner When....

-when your spouse/coworkers/children/neighbors complain about how cranky you are after you missed your run

-you know the definitions fartlek, tempo run, taper, and glycogen stores and use them regularly

-when you find that you have to think of your run schedule to remember what day of the week it is

-when you have a folder for running webpages in your bookmarks

-when you can name at least 3 writers of running blogs

-when you wake up thinking about today's run and go to sleep thinking about tomorrow's run

-when you run up to a red light and think "Man, I wish I didn't have to stop!" instead of "Good, I want a break!"

-when you drive your route after your runs to find out how far you went

-when you drive the route to your next race days (or weeks) in advance

-when you ask people (who didn't run the race and may or may not be runners) if they want to ride with you while you drive the course of the race you just did and give them commentary of the race while doing so

-when you dream about running

-when giving directions, you can give the tenths or hundreths of a mile ("turn right in .38 miles")

-when you use the words "easy" and "long run" in the same sentence

-when you continue running despite the fact that when you blink your eyelashes stick together because they are collecting ice and snow

-when you spend more time on sites like this than you do work

-when you cross the finish line of a marathon and you start considering where/when the next one will be

-when you can say "fartlek" without a single hint of a laugh
you spend your free time reading nutrition labels and race results

-when you are running a race and your calves are cramping and your knees are aching and your lungs are burning but you still find yourself thinking, "This is fun!"

-when you'd rather run than watch TV

-when you have an exact 'prestart routine' for all runs: the same stretches in the same place for the same amount of time before you take off

-when you notice that the only footsteps in the snow are yours and yours from yesterday

-when you leave the New Year's Eve party early because you have a race in the morning

-when you have to drive for 20 miles before you find a road you haven't run on

-when you get out of your car at red lights and run around it a few times

-when you buy Gatorade and Epsom salt by the truck load

-when you have your race schedule set out for 5 years in advance but can’t remember if you scheduled to work the next day or not

-when you pee in public when you aren't drunk

-when your big date each week is the date you have with a good pair of running shoes and the road

-when it is suggested that you give up running for Lent

How about....

-when you drive the course 4 months in advance (did this last Saturday)

-when the New Year's Eve party IS a race (that was AWESOME!!!)

-when you lay in bed thinking of your last run because it is the only 100% stress free thing you can think of to help you fall asleep.(I call it my 'happy place')

Come on Cheetahs, I know you have a ton to add!;)

You drive by a large hill and you think "That'd be a GREAT running workout!" I do that all the time. Dh and I went to San Francisco a few months ago and I was dying to go for a run.

-When you set your odometer on the way home from the grocery store because there's a chance the drive home could make you think up a new running route!

-When you get through the family Thanksgiving with the inlaws by planning your runs a month in advance in the different cities where your relatives live....

Wow- so many of those were so true for me!!

- when you have your own GPS (Garmin) & realize you don't know what you did without it!

- when you run in below zero temps & it doesn't bother you that your hair is frozen solid!

- when your neighbors know that no matter what temperature it is outside you'll be out running

- when you have lost at least one toenail from long runs

- when you get all excited to get new running shoes/ clothes/ new gadget

- when everyone you know is sick of hearing you talk about running

- when you plan your holidays around the local races

-when you don't necessarily look forward to summer vacations away from home because they take you away from your fall marathon training schedule.

Kassia....I have run so long I can relate to most ALL of those!!

when you trip and fall on a trail run....get up, brush off the dirt, check for blood....continue the run as you still have 14 miles left...:)

-every day that you are working out, the first thing you think of doing is going for a run...even when one is not scheduled for that day!

-you want to spend $100 on a single child jogging stroller just so you can have one NOW even though you are planning on having another baby!

Ah - you all make me miss running SO much! I wish I would have started running later in life so I would still have joints that wanted to run as much as my heart does.

A lot of these things relate to cycling too, and I truly LOVE cycling now, but you can't really ride a rode bike in the snow. I think winter running is what I miss the most. Hard to ride in the early morning dark hours too. :( So run a few extra miles for me, okay?

-when admidst shopping for a present for your 7 year old niece you STILL manage to spot the rack of work out/running apparel across the aisle that is on sale suuuuper cheap!!!}(

(I picked up 2 pairs of shorts for like $8.00 a piece and 2 coordinating sports bra tops for like $10.00 a piece! The stuff was marked down to less than half price! WOO HOO!:+ :7 :+ )

-As you arrive on your romantic vacation, and he's taking it all in thinking of... well you know what he's thinking of. But, you on the other hand are scoping out your run for the morning... maybe even a nice evening run...?
