thanks for the concern. it's really appreciated. we just got back from the dr. and all is well!! they listened to the heartbeat and checked my cervix because sometimes cramping can come from having an infection we are not aware of. everything seemed in order. they drew blood for the triple screen test. i should have the results in a few days. we also have our big u/s on mon. so that should quiet my mind also.

which leads me to another question is or have everyone taking the triple screen test?

Yeah!!!!! I"m so happy that everything is ok. You had us all worried. Thank God that everything is great.

On to your question, I'm still debating that. I had it done with my son b/c I really went along with anything that they offered. Now I"m not so sure. I tend to worry so I"m still not sure if I'm going to have it done since there are chances for a false positive. This is something that I want to discuss with my DH & my midwife.

Sunnydelite---Sooo glad everything is okay!

:) :) :)

Your decision not to have it done this time is totally understandable Lynne!

I had it done and thank goodness nothing came of it. Next time around I may decide not to....

Have a great work out!

Great news!! So glad to hear all is well!! What a relief for you!

What is the triple screen test? I think it might be called something else here. My doc asked whether I wanted to do a blood test that checked for possible genetic abnormalities; if the test showed something to worry about, then amnio would follow to confirm the results. Is that what you are referring to? If so, I declined.

So happy for you!

I'm so glad to hear that your doctor appointment went well. I can't remember if you said if you are going to find out the sex of your baby. My next doctor appointment is Thursday, March 31, but then the one at the end of April will my big u/s. You are so lucky to be having it now. My Obgyn waits until 20 weeks. I can't wait to find out the sex of this baby.

I never had the triple screen test and won't this time either for a couple of reasons. The first one is the possibility of a false positive, why worry myself if I don't have to. My other reason was because no matter what I will love this baby so this test will not change anything.

Congrats again on your good news!

Lynne & Sandra, did you all notice we are due one day after the other? Christmas was a good time for all of us!:D :D

Glad all is fine! I hope your weekend goes really really fast so you can have that u/s! I remember my u/s with my son, just amazing! Be prepared to cry! Take it easy until then!

Glad everything is ok!

I had a Quad screen done. It is part of the routine screening that is done at my Dr's. I was ok with doing it since they only needed to draw more blood.

Congrats on your good sonogram!
About the triple screen (AFP) test, I had it done with my daughter in 2003 and all was fine, so I never thought twice about it. This time with our boy, I had it done again and got a positive screen for Trisomy 18, as I have shared with you on this board. That positive test, and the resultant amnio and month of brutal and horrible waiting, was one of the hardest things I've gone through (and my life wasn't always a bed of roses!). The amnio came back normal, and we KNOW it's a boy (heehee) but I think we are still shaken up by it. I'm 29 weeks along now and heading into the home stretch, but part of us will continue to fret until we see our son with our own eyes.
So would I do it again? Maybe. But I never would have thought a false positive could happen to me! Those things just always happen to OTHER people, LOL.

thanks so much for the kind words everyone!

fiddlefit- that is the same test i am referring to.

kristi- i would love to find out the gender of my baby. i can't wait to start calling him/her by their name! i am just praying my little one cooperates. also the reason they are doing the big u/s on me a little bit earlier than usual is because i am 35 years old. if they find anything then it gives me the chance to opt for amnio.
