"You Are What You Eat"

Great show! Does anyone else watch it? In Canada, it's shown daily on the W network. I'd love to see a table full of the food I eat in a week - I'd probably be astonished.

Cheers,
Sandra

Thanks for the web link, Sham. I love some of the foods she uses on the show, and will definitely buy the book when it comes out in Canada.

Has this show come on in the US yet? It's a British show, and has only just started airing in Canada as of Jan 1/06.

Cheers,
Sandra

Well, at one time I was a big ol'hunk of cheese...perferably mozzerella or sharp provolone! }( LOL

Now I am DEFINATELY a cup of coffee with a side of low fat cottage cheese!;)

I clicked on the website and saw a sample of a meal plan and YIKES, I personally think I'd STARVE eating like that!!!   I'm all for good eating habits but give me some food I can sink my teeth into!!!:)

RE:

Let's see....today I was a big tuna fish, oatmeal, chicken, artichoke, sundried tomato, and hot chocolate sandwich. Ewwwwww. LOL. Maybe I can be what I eat one thing at a time ;)

RE:

I haven't seen this show either.

And I would be one gigantic cup of Earl Grey tea...no milk or sugar.

RE:

this kind of reminds me of the book I just received from amazon "Eat to Live"...it is mostly whole, raw foods - veggies and fruits...

the Dr of this book wants you to eat 1 lb of raw leafy greens and 1 lb of steamed green veggies a day + 4 fruits or more per day - hardly any protein - only 12 oz per week of protein...

I had to be realistic and know that I dont have the willpower to strictly stay on this diet - but I promised myself to incorporate more fruit/veggies/whole foods

I wish I did not like dessert so much - that is my downfall...

RE:

Someone asked about what the show is about...

Basically this show focuses on people who are extremely unhealthy eaters, where they don't have any fruits or veggies and are facing health problems. She does a series of tests on them as well as a colon cleanse....not too pleasant to hear the results of that sometimes.
Gillian Mckeith, the holistic doctor, then finds out what they have been eating for a week then shows them on a table...its pretty disgusting sometimes as some families eat mainly processed foods and lots of fat, fried foods. Then she shows them a table of what they should be eating, fresh veggies, grains, fruits, lean meats, etc....
She's very funny as she tells them exactly how it is! Some people embrace her advise, some people automatically shun it.
She also advocates exercise.

I agree about the menu she gives on her website, i couldn't sustain on it, but she does give you some interesting food ideas.
I think the show has been running in London and recently is showing in Canada.

Take care all, and have a great weekend.

Good description, Sham. I just wanted to add that each episode follows one person/family and usually by the end of it, they've lost a ton of weight. I love hearing what she has to say about their tongues. This is the kind of show that provides great incentive to clean out your cupboards and put down the doughnut.

If I were what I eat, I'd be pretty nutty, fruity, and in a vegetative state most of the time. Oh wait, I guess I am :)

Ok, so some of those "foods", on her website, I have no idea what they are! LOL! Seriously, I'd have a hard time with some of that due to not knowing what it is or where to buy it.
