My dad , who is in his late 70's recentlly went to the chiropracter for his back.
The dr. treated him for 6 weeks or so and he's doing much better, but he still has a lot of stiffness and is NOT very flexible (has never been). His dr. said he has two herniated disc's and he suspects that he possibly had scoliosis since he was a kid that was never treated.

He reccomended he take YOGA CLASS ! (MY DAD!!!:p) He is actually looking into classes and I say, good for him !
But I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for yoga dvds he could use at home.
I have a few I can loan him but dont' think they are necessarily the best for him.
As I look to see what I have......they aren't all yoga tapes either . I have :
The biggest loser weight loss yoga
and Yoga shakti with shiva rea
Tai Chi daily practice with David Dorian Ross

Any suggestions for something more appropriate for him ??

Many thanks !!!

Hi there! I am just wrapping up my yoga teacher training and would not suggest that your father use a DVD until he has spent time attending some classes with a teacher to ensure he does the poses properly. He could hurt himself, especially since he has an injury. Once he has learned the poses there are some good DVDs. One I bought for my husband is "Yoga for Inflexible People" and it is very nice.

I just thought of another DVD that may be better for a senior with an injury new to yoga. It is called "Ageless Yoga: Chair and Standing Routines"

Thank you so much ! I agree with you and I should have been more clear. He knows NOTHING about yoga at all and he needs to go to a class to be instructed on form and learn to do it right first. I just thought that since the place his doctor sent him is fairly far away, that once he's attended class for a while, he might want to skip days of bad weather, of if he's not feeling well , or even once he's got it down, continue on his own .
Your suggestions sound great. Thanks for your help !
Becky
