Woooo Hoooooo! I get to pick up my new treadmill today at Sears!! After doing a search here and finding for some ProForm was a good choice and would fit into my price range, I’m going for it! I’m getting the ProForm XP550e on sale for $599. Since I don’t have a dedicated workout room in our house (yet), I had to “sweeten” my DH up to the idea of putting the treadmill in the family room by saying that I would put together a treadmill program for him to use while he watches the news, etc…hee hee...

The reason I’m so excited is that I can’t wait to run again! While training for my 4th marathon last July, I was sidelined with a hip injury and was told by the orthopedic MD no running at all indefinitely. I had a painful bursitis in my hip joint. Being totally bummed out and experiencing runner’s withdrawal, I had to seek out something rigorous for exercise and that’s when I found Cathe. I loved the Cathe workouts and actually this was a good find since I wasn’t working out my upper body much before. I had to take it easy though with the stepping, because my hip was taking forever to heal. Since the MD said cycling was a good replacement exercise, my sweet DH bought me a fabulous Specialized road bike for an early Christmas present, but I can only ride it on the weekends. Don’t get me wrong, I love my bike, but I really miss a good run. Anytime I brought up the subject of maybe just running “a mile or two” my husband freaked out. SOooo, after 8 months of inconsistent workouts, self-pity, sporatic eating, and weight gain, I’ve finally come around and have gotten myself back on track with MUCH thanks to all of you supportive motivating folks here! I’ve taken the time to plan and record on paper my workout week along with my meals. I’ve taken the photos and body measurements and I’m on a roll baby! Anyhoo, my hip is doing much better but the only missing link for me is the running, so I would like to incorporate a little bit into my program. I’ve been able to persuade my husband that I promise to keep up with the Cathe and Pilates, and only run once or twice a week on the new treadmill (oooh so giddy!! :7 ). I’ll take it easy at first and then maybe purchase some cardio coach to use for a day or two of cardio per week.

Whew! After this long post, I guess you can say I’ve come out of the lurking closet!!

Thomasina, Yipee! Good luck and please take it easy. I can't say I was ever as excited as you about running, but to each his own. I guess I'd feel the same way if an injury caused me to give up stepping. Anyhow, glad to have you come out of the lurking closet and join the human (Cathe) race.

Thanks Robin, and yes, eventhough I am not one of those sleek "effortless runners" I am happier than most to be able to run. I miss the runners high and how I felt after the accomplishment of a long run. I guess you could say I was addicted! I'm now addicted to Cathe too; just gotta have that DOMS going on }( haha..

I also was running the marathons for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training, so it was a bummer not to be able to keep raising $$$ for that. But, atleast I was able to do 3 of them in my lifetime for the cause and that's ok with me.

Woo hoo...only 1 more hour and I get to go get my treadmill!! :7

Hooray for you!!!! Congratulations on your new treadmill! I can only imagine how frustrating it was to give up running for so long.

I just received a new treadmill yesterday and can't tell you how great my run was this morning. :)

I hope your hip continues to heal and you are able to run to your heart's content! :)

Congratulations on the new treadmill. I bought a Proform in May and I just love being able to run any time I feel like it. I only run 1 - 2 times per week too because of hip problems. I haven't been bothered lately. What a nice way to get dh involved too. Enjoy!!!

Kara,
THanks, and it is very frustrating to not run, especially when I see people out running or when I recieve tons of 5K, 10K and Marathon race pamphlets in my PO Box!

Thanks and yep, I only plan on running about 2 times a week so I don't overdo. My husband is still skeptical about me running, so I have to make sure I behave and not run on it too much! :p Does your ProForm have the ifit capatibility and if so, have you used It?

still have to complete the assembly of my shiny new toy, and then I get to run tomorrow! YAY! I had to take my teenagers out to the movies tonight, so I didn't get a chance to finish up.

Happy Running!
