Yes or no?

Hi,
I'm new here. My name is Lisa. I've been working out with Cathe for 2 yrs now. She kills me at times physically! :) Anyway, here's the question: I haven't gotten my period yet and I'm supposed to have it this week. I started the new BC on sunday after I stopped Yasmin for a week 3 weeks ago (we didn't do the hot monkey luvin' that week or the next), I still have 3 1/2 more days before I start another cycle of the pills. I have somewhat of a bad feeling I might be pregnant again because one of my nipples leaked when I squeezed it. I also feel real bloated and tired. My question is because my nipple leaked when I squeezed it, does it definitely mean I'm pregnant or it could be because I worked out for an hour this morning and an hour later I checked my nipple? I hope this is making sense. Also, I have a 10 month old son and I stopped nursing him when he was 6 months old due to medical reasons. Have a good day!

Hi Lisa,

I can't answer your question about the birth control and possible pregnancy, but I do remember from having my first child that it is possible to leak milk for even up to a year after you stop nursing. I wouldn't presume the milk means you're pregnant, just that your hormones are still active in that department.

Sandra

Sandra is correct. I see leaking more frequently in women using hormonal contraception. There are other causes for nipple discharge, so I would suggest you call your health care provider on the subject since s/he is familiar with your health history. BTW, did you abstain for the first two weeks of the new pill pack?

If you're worried about cancer, it's not it, Autumn. Looks like I probably will be getting my period now...It's sort of bloody mucus and I have bad cramps plus a major headache. We didn't do the deed the week I was off the pill before changing it and the first week and a half. I'm talking to my health care pract. and she said to take the test anyway just to be on the safe side. She said the nipple discharge might not mean anything. We'll find out tomorrow.

There are other causes of nipple discharge. One example, fibrocystic breast changes. It may be nothing at all, but it I am happy you are seeing your heatlh care provider.

Some pharmacies & health care providers advise using a back up method for a specified period of time when changing hormonal contracpetives... some don't.
