Xtreme Step - Anyone Else Try This

Cathlete
I just rec'd my Xtreme Step DVD. Here's the link:

www.Xtremestep.com

I did it this morning and i followed the beginner part just fine and then I did 2 combos in the intermediate/adv segment and started to get lost. This is going to be one I reach for a lot, but I'll have to work on the footwork on my rest days until I learn it. Anyone that wants something really different and cutting edge with a hip hop feel might like this. Izett is likeable and makes it fun.

I am curious-what kind of music is used in this is it hip hop?? I am very interested I went to the website and it looks good to me but I also want to know does he teach on the beat? I am very particular when it comes to instructors so any other info would be appreciated. Also how long are each segement?
Thank you very much in advance
Lisa

Lorajc,

How was the production/sound quality? It looks interesting but I couldn't find an actual clip from the workout on the site and I like to see a preview before I buy.

Thanks,
Carolyn

You have to go right below this paragraph on the main page:

Izett is currently featured on the nikewomen.com. To see the feature and to get a glimpse of the class and sample choreography, click on the Nike image below.

and then follow those instructions to see the clip.

The music is sort of a techno beat/hip hop thing. Not any vocals....I don't think....just more of a beat type thing. I think the preview has the music. It's really different than anything out there on the market. Feel free to email Izett with your questions, as he's very warm and personable. He stopped by the thread over at VF regarding the new DVD to say a few words. Let me go see if I can find the thread.

In the thread Izett does say he teaches this at 135 to 139 BPM and he also answers questions on how long the segments are.

I did the beginning segment this morning (x 2) with part of the 2nd segment and the first segment was mainly steps we are familiar with but he has his own terminology for them. It was loads of fun. I put my step up on 1 riser (they just do it on the step) but when I got to the 2nd segment and they started doing slashers (fast feet and spinning around), the step was too high and I see why they step on the lower level. He does his cuing sort of militant and rapper style. He really has his own style and adds a different spin on most step moves. It's important to have an open mind and be willing to stray from the ordinary to enjoy this. The clip shows just how fast they actually get going. He also teaches like this: He'll tell you to continue doing knee ups and then watch him do the move once or twice and then asks you to join him. There is a clinic part at the end of the tape that shows the move in slow motion.

This was on my wish list too after reading VF. I love step, and this just seems like a good challenge!

Lorajc:

Wow, this looks really fun. I read the replies, but still couldn't figure out the total time on it. It said beginner was 23 minutes, but didn't mention the rest. How long is it total from beginning to end?

I checked out the video on nike.com... and it looks very fast and "jumpy"... lots of hopping around. Is it hard to get the moves down? It does look like fun, but I'm thinking it might be too fast for me.
