Xers ~~ Wednesday ~~

Thanks ladies for all the great suggestions. I like the idea of doing half the weight workout as heavy as I can go and then doing a half hour of cardio. I actually just started running again last weekend when I went to DH's gym, so maybe I should just add on a short run after my workouts.
Let me ask you all who've graduated already... which phase did you see the most dramatic results? And during that phase, did you add in anything additional?

Okay...I'm back now...went to the dentist with DD...I am really going to miss him! He is such a great dentist! Then we went to the pond and fed the new baby geese and ducks...very cute. Then over to the park...and then home to do a couple of things for the move...and get some more laundry. How do 2 people wear so many clothes? And one of them is under 4 feet tall!

Personal time....

Wendy...You and your poor DD! Good gracious, I hope it doesn't turn out to be migraines! Poor thing. My thoughts are with you while you struggle through the next few weeks. I tested my glutes last night while reading the article..and I was tight like I should be...Thank you Cathe...all of the glute work they advise in the article is in B&G. Well, at least you don't have to watch out for Phil's punches during Kenpo!

Tracy...So, what do you consider lower intensity legs? Not as much weight? Or shorter sessions? Just wondering. I wish I had the time to do yoga every day. I think it is wonderful that you are able to incorporate that into your busy schedule. Our close date on the house in NC is June 12...just over a month away!

Jeanette...Glad you were able to do your time trials last night. I now understand the wind resistance you have been talking about! Hope your tummy continues to improve.

Traci...It's funny...I thought about you while I was reading the second article. I don't have a bad time with my period, but I know a lot of women do, and I found the article interesting. The other topic that I paid a lot of attention to was about the Q measurement...and how women's hips/legs are shaped differently than men's and we need to pay close attention to that part of our quads to help strengthen the knee area. Since my knees tend to bother me, I want to make sure to focus on that. I only wore the shorts during my ride, so the diaper feeling wasn't too bad...but you need to know that I usually live in my workout clothes and as soon as I got home, I put on my regular workout stuff. It's funny you say the new house is "stately"....it's actually a lot more casual than some others I looked at.

Amy...Glad DH's Dr. visit went well yesterday. And now the in-laws! It's good you get along well with them. Are you taking any time off while they are in town? Kenpo was actually one of the ones I didn't sub during my X rotation. I really like it a lot...I subbed all the other cardio, though...and of course, ARX...and toward the end I even subbed some the weight work (mostly because of injuries).

Nicole...Hope you got some sun time in today. Those pesky workers! Stretch X was not one of my favorites...I actually hurt myself once while doing it...so as a warning, don't push too hard! Especially with your back not quite right.

Teddygirl...My goodness woman, you spend a ton of time working out! Good for you! I think I am too lazy to do all of that!

Okay...I think I am caught up...If I missed anyone, I'm sorry...Hope you all have a great night..

Debra- Thanks for the heads up on StretchX, I'll be extra careful:) More sun tomorrow, hopefully cooler though.

Wendy- It's like anything that's new, it will become a habit and will get easier with time. Hopefully it will be a smooth transition into limited food variety. Thanks again for the tip about opening a second window to write my personals. I'm getting them done in half the time.

Thanks Nicole and Debra,

I didn't break down crying. Almost. I took a quick nap with Phil. Get your mind out of the gutter!!! }( We slept. He has to sleep before he goes back into work tonight at 10:00. Woke up refreshed and made spaghetti for dinner. Acceptable foods are starting to pop into my mind. I think I'll keep a food journal since I may let her have one of the forbidden foods. Gosh, I hate how he wants us to eliminate all these foods without giving me a game plan on when or how to add them back. I like to know the whole picture!

Anyhow, I'll do Kenpo when Phil leaves for work. I'll be picturing dd's doctor holding the elimination list while punching and kicking. }(

Glad you had fun at the pond, Debra. I think the smaller children are, the messier they are. Do you remember all the clothes covered with spit-up and poop when your dd was only a baby! How soon we forget. Maybe that's why I have 6 kids! ;-)

Nicole, you are soooo funny handwriting personals! Glad I could help.

Blessings,
Wendy

Wendy- I am sorry that you are having a rough time with Waverly's food!! I would suggest that you not eliminate ALL the foods on the list at the same time. Progressively remove 1 or 2 of them every week or so until you find that she's not getting the headaches anymore. That way, you *know* what triggers the headaches without having to play "guess the food". Hopefully by doing it that way, you can keep some of her "edible" foods!! Oh, also, check the ingredient list. A friend of mine is college was very sensitive to MSG and it caused massive migraines for her. I can't remember how she figured it out, but when she did, she took herself off all her migraine medication without any problems. Wave may be allergic to MSG.

Okay, gang, well Kenpo nor substitutions ever got done today. Cleaning was a massive project and when I get started, I don't stop until it's done. I didn't eat dinner until almost 8p and now I'm ready to hit the sack!!! I will start Phase 2 tomorrow, maybe add some Kenpo stuff in after the weight work.

Nighty-night!

Well, ladies...just checking by before I head off to bed. I made some chicken with tomatoes and black beans tonight...with plans to put the mixture in between some ww tortillas with some cheese for a yummy quesadilla....but then realized I had no tortillas...Oh well, at least I will have the chix mix for tomorrow!

Amy...Just love having our own personal nurse on staff here at the Xer site! You have been great about offering medical advice without being overbearing...And I just wanted to thank you!

Wendy...Glad you figured out something for dinner. Isn't it nice to take a little nap with your honey? I just love that feeling! Hope you had fun with kenpo.

Nicole...Good luck with the sun tomorrow...and make sure you shoo away those pesky workers! Didn't want to say before, but I also found StretchX incredibly long..and I personally didn't have the patience for it! I usually subbed either Cathe's Stretch Max (much shorter!) or a pilates dvd.

Okay...I am exiting the building now...Hope no one got any lice from Sandra and her little ones today! Hopefully you won't have to put mayo in your hair...and as I type this I wonder if Miracle Whip would work the same?!? I am sure that Traci could get a lot of MW pretty quick for any itchy ladies.

Evening,

Just getting on now. Our power went out earlier so couldn't post or read, WAAAAHHH. Boy, are my legs sore now. It's either the time trial yesterday or my toasty leg workout this morning. Tomorrow after work will be a bike ride with a girlfriend and will get to spin these legs a little, hopefully the soreness will leave.

Laurie, so sorry to hear of your cousin's son. That is just so tragic. Life is precious, isn't it? I just can't imagine the grief. Hope your DD wasn't too traumatized by what was going on at the neighbors today. What happened? Did you get the scoop yet? Hope your stomach is A-OK now, mine sure is. Thanks for asking.

Tracy, I think that's great to vary the intensity and then come back and shock the body. I'm looking forward to planning an easier type rotation next week.

Traci, how did the haircut and lights turn out? Can you post a picture? Would love to see. who puts out Belly Burner Abs? Never heard of it before.

Wendy, I hate also that diet is so key to that lean look we are trying to attain. However, the older I get, the more I want to enjoy my family get togethers and those usually involve food. I just try to make sure that the time inbetween is fairly clean. So your DH thinks that PlyoX is too easy? Wow. I never thought it got easier and remember the 3rd time I did it, it was really, really tough for some reason. Also sorry that your DH has to work so much. My DH has to work on Saturday, but will be getting next Friday off for a family BBQ that should be really fun. Sorry to hear about the food elimination thing for your DD. I would be terrible as I hardly cook right now. I'm sure you will get creative and come up with something good.

Sandra, so sorry about the lice situation. Somehow, we avoided it during our child rearing years. Hope it leaves quickly. I'm shuddering right now just thinking of it.

Katie, you are doing great, losing BF% and weight. Sounds like what you are doing is working for you. I did miss my Cathe's toward the end. I bicycled for extra cardio a few times a week. I also subbed AbX a few times with Cathe.

Amy, good job on CS. That is not an easy workout for sure! I felt like I got better each time I did it too. Much improvement from my 1st to my 2nd time. I somehow was able to do all the Dreya Rolls starting on my 2nd recovery week. I think it's cause weebles wobble, but they don't fall down LOL! Does your DH have an injury? Sorry if that's too nosy.

Nicole, soaking up sun sounds very nice. Yes, the angel food cake was good and light, only I was bad and had 2 servings of it. Hey, the cake is all air, isn't it? I subbed Imax1 and 2 a couple times for PlyoX.

Teddygirl, do you usually work out twice a day? I did a B&G premix this morning too. I was thinking of you and how you like to work legs. Think I'm liking it better now than I used to. I like not having to hoist that barbell on my shoulders. I like going lighter with my weights and more reps instead.

Debra, a good dentist is a wonderful find. Hope you find a good one at your new town. Feeding the ducks and geese sounds wonderful. Wish we had a park like that around here. Yep, say to yourself "the wind is my friend", while pedaling into a headwind. It will make you stronger, but is kind of disheartening because of the low speeds.

Got to get to bed as it's 10:19 now.

Jeanette
