WW/Cathe question

Hi ladies! I've been a Cathe follower for some time now and and on again/off again WW member. I've always counted Cathe's workout to be about 4 activity points, but for my height/weight the activity slider says I should count them as 5-6.

I'm just curious how the rest of you WW followers count your activity points for Cathe's workouts?

I found that the slider is not accurate for everyone. The best way to figure out APs is to get a heart rate monitor that shows you how many calories burned per workout (still an estimate but better than the slider IMO). Then you can count an activity point for every 100 calories burned. For me, a typical hour of Cathe step aerobics on an 8" step will yield about 3 APs. However I know many other people in the same height/weight range who earn 4 to 5 APs for the same workout.

Before the heart rate monitor I found I could only eat half my APs to get the best results. Now that I have the HRM I can understand that because the slider was giving me twice the APs!

Sorry I really didn't answer your question!!!

That helps thanks! I've been tossing around the idea of getting a heart rate monitor. What brand/style do you use?

I second the HRM. I absolutely love mine. I have a Polar M62 or 3, I can never remember. I probably bought one with a few more features than I really needed. All I really use is the HR, time exercised, and calories burned. Unfortunately, I can't use mine to do Cathe because the TV interferes with the reception. I know from experience though that I earn about 1 AP for every 10 minutes I workout, IF I am working hard. (which with Cathe I usually am.) Remember though that calories burned depends on your weight.

Thanks TK -
I've always wondered about those sliders, too. I've always counted 5-6 points for a Cathe workout and wondered how true it would be. Thanks for clearing that up.

I use a Polar A5 and I use it all the time. Besides the feedback on calories it also serves as my virtual coach. It knows when I'm slacking off and will beep at me LOL.

In fact, the HRM is why I started using Cathe. The Firm 'cardio' tapes just didn't keep my heart rate in the target zone so I kicked them to to curb and started buying all things Cathe.

Me, too! I had been counting 4 APs for the Firm and was surprised after I got my A5 that I was maybe burning 300 calories. It was definitely time to shake things up - no way was I spending an hour for that. Unless it's doing a weight workout - those are low.
