Hi Jess,
I am 36 weeks pregnant at this point and I can tell you that those first 15 weeks can be worrisome especially when you hear about other miscarriages. Try not to worry too much since this won't help matters. Just make sure you are eating right and not working out excessively. If you are losing weight, maybe you are not eating enough? You would know (I'm pretty sure) if you had/having a miscarriage because there would generally be some bleeding. If you have not experienced any bleeding up until now, you should be okay. I am not an expert on this by any means so I hope someone will correct me if this information is wrong. Think positive thoughts and know that your baby is doing fine. You will get confirmation when you go to the doctor and hear that little heartbeat. In a few more weeks, you should start to feel movement which is also reassuring that all is OK. Good luck and keep us posted!

actually i've been a little lax on watching what i eat. i'm sorta eating whenever i have the urge to. and i'm not working out as much as normal. partly due to working out lately makes me so tired. so i do only a short one in the mornings or a regular one everyother day. is that too much? do you get tired after you workout or later in the day from it. yesterday i fell asleep right after i worked out, i meant to lay down for a second. dont know if this is early pregnancy stuff. Jess

Hi Jess. It is my understanding that at 14 weeks, you are pretty much out of the ball park for miscarriage risk! As for your stomach size, isn't it possible that maybe you had some gas build up previously and that is why your stomach was more distended? My book said that this often happens (distension for gas). As for the weight, couldn't it be water? If you'd eaten more carbs or something previously. I think this could all be explained.
At 14 weeks, I was still feeling some fatigue. I can't say if it was hormones, busy-baby-building, or working out though. I'd say that if working out makes you that tired, then don't!

I'd bet everything is just fine with you! But why not go to the doctor and let him or her reassure you?

Welcome to the forum. I've been away awhile so you may not have seen a post from me yet. You will be starting to feel the baby move pretty soon. Your baby will establish a movement pattern which you will recognize. If at any time the baby strays from his/her movement patterns you should take notice.

Take care.

Oh wow Sheila. At 20 weeks I am still not sure entirely sure when I feel the baby move or what is going on in my intestinal track! In the past week I've gotten a little more confident in distihnguishing the two though. We've heard the heartbeat for weeks and I have had a sonogram, so I know all is ok.

I don't want Jess to be even more concerned if she doesn't clearly recognize baby movement--and patterns-- "soon" as she is only at 14 weeks. This is my first pregnancy and I understand us new mom's aren't as good as knowing what we are feeling.

Do you really think I should feel patterns already? And by patterns, are you mainly referring to times of day when the baby is more or less active?

Gina

In my first two pregnancies, I didn't feel what I was sure was the baby moving until about 22 weeks. During my last pregnancy, I started feeling the baby at around 15 weeks!
