Workout Warriors Feb 28-March 6

Happy Monday Warriors! Come out come out wherever you are and greet the new week that were going to start. (Sung by Glinda) :p

I started off the week with Disk 10. Not going to be sorry to say good-bye to Meso 1 and all the fast change and pushups!!!

Schools closed today because of the roads. It's a rural school district and rain/freezing rain on top of snow on dirt roads is the worst thing to try and drive on. We have paved roads all the way in, and Nick's disappointed, but that's the way things roll sometimes.

Good Morning Warriors! (I second the come out, come out wherever you are ;))

Quick post before a meeting...played tennis on Saturday, did my C25k run/walk on Sunday and managed to get my lazy self out of bed this morning (yeah!) and did HIS cardio. Should be playing tennis tonight.

Cathy- I hope your weather gets better soon. Freezing rain on top of snow is not fun at all. It is 80 and clear here today. Only thing to complain about weather wise is the ridiculous amount of pollen that is out. The cars are green and my allergies, despite the meds, are acting up. But you are welcome to come on down and hang out. :D

Alright, off to my meeting...blah! Check back later. Have a good day everyone.

Hello All Warriors

I went to the gas station today and was shocked that gas was $3.50. I have a feeling that this is just the tip of the iceberg considering all of the unrest in the Middle East. Many think that $5.00 a gallon gas is not very far off. I think that some gas stations are price gouging. I still refuse to take public transportation to work but I may have to reconsider. I hate crowed subways and buses!

Anyone watch the Oscars last night? I saw the 'King's Speech' and really enjoyed it?

I got the Ryka Assist sneakers from Amazon because of the thread about them on the Cathe form. I love them. They are are light weight and very comfortable. I am going to get another pair! What are your favorite brands and styles of sneakers?

I had a busy weekend. My son and some of his athletes are here for a meet later this week. They challenged me and DH to workout with them and we accepted only if they would do my workout the next day. They accepted. I did a lot of agility drills, some sprinting and some hurdling and some long jump. They let me use their extra low practice hurdles. My long jump was so very sad! We worked out for 3.5 hours. Yesterday they had to do my workout. We laughed and had fun. We did Jennifer Galardi's- Sweating Sexy, Supreme 90 and Turbo Fire - HIIT 30. We laughed until we cried when they did 'Sweating Sexy' and 'Turbo Fire'. I wish you could have seen then doing 'Sweating Sexy' but they were right at home when we did with Supreme 90. I have now worked out enough for a week!

MJ- Spring always gets me with all of the pollen but I am looking forward to the warm weather. Do you play tennis doubles?

Cathy- I too hope your weather improves. I think that you will enjoy Meso two more. If you hate push ups don''t ever do P90x because there are pushups galore.

Have a great Monday!

Happy Monday Everyone!

I've been maintaining my STS workouts, but cardio, walking Rowan, Abs, and Pilates have slipped quite a bit. The days without power, the excessive snow, the super cold temps all played a part in getting me off track. Plus there is a real possibility that we may re-locate for my DH's work. I've spent too much time looking at the two possible cities and available real estate.

It really has gotten quiet around here. :(

Regina - your workout weekend sounded like a blast! I wear Nike Free for lifting, an old pair of Asics Gel for walking, and a pair of Nike Zoom Structure Triax +13 for running. I was fitted for them at the running store, they fit like they were made for my feet. I'll have to check out the Ryka Assist. :)

Cathy - The push ups show up again at the end of Meso 2 - I did them today. Hope the weather warms up for you. I think ice is worse than snow. Danger. Danger.

MJ - I may be headed your direction! You can get me back into tennis and we can motivate each other to run.

Kimberly - When do you head to El Mirage? I had to look it up on the map, it is one of he communities that was built after I left AZ. Kind of a weird feeling. Is today the last day of your rotation or did it fall on Sunday?

Kim- Gucci Gucci Gucci... Speaking of Gucci, what did you get him for your birthday? I hope you had an extra large slice of cake to celebrate!

Waving hi to everyone else. :D

Tomorrow I plan to get on the treadmill and run for a bit, then do my rehab stuff.

:D

Today was Step Moves and AC Medicine Ball Abs. Love Step Moves :D

We've now had two sunny days in a row and the snow is starting to disappear again - would love to think that's until next winter, but it's only the first of March.

MJ Yay on the morning workout! Hoping you have a smooth work week.

Regina sounds like you had a very fun weekend and yes, enough working out for a whole week. :D Gas prices ugh! Especially with baseball season coming up and two kids playing on travel teams. The one downside of living in the boonies is the distance to everything. Haven't seen it above $3.45 here, but I haven't been by a gas station since Saturday.

Janis you may be moving? And it sounds like not a close move either. How do the kids feel about it? and you? I've moved a lot because my Dad liked to build houses and then move every few years, but it was always in the same area. Except for a couple years when I lived a few blocks out of it, I've lived in the same county my whole life. If FL is a possibility there are some great deals on houses there right now.

Where are you with STS right now? I know the pushups show up again in Meso 2, but not nearly to the extent they are in Meso 1. Nick is in his 90% week of Meso 3 and we are still upping his weights from what is suggested. Honestly, he's blown away my concept of what he'd be able to lift at this point.

Still haven't had any sugar! :):):)

Good Morning Warriors

Cathy- congratualtions on continuing with no sugar! I like Step Moves too.

Janis How do you feel about relocating? Sometimes moving can be exciting. We use to move quite a bit during DH and my early years in the military.

Have a great day!

workout this am- Supreme 90- Tabata Inferno

Hi Ladies

Today I did the last leg workout for Meso 2. Friday will be Back and Biceps, then a week off and onto Meso 3. Time flies, huh!? I think I will take the week off from lifting.

When I returned to my car, yesterday, after taking a walk with my DS and the doggy-ds at the vineyard, I discovered a screw deeply embedded into my tire. Into the sidewall no less, which means I need a new tire. Heading out in a short while for a trip to the tire store.

Re-location: I won't know where or when until later this week, or possibly next. The suspense is killing me. I welcome the move and the change. We'll close up the house here for now, taking very little with us. Only one of the three DS's live at home. The other two took the news really well, and thought the move was a good idea.

MJ- How are your allergies? Were you able to play tennis in the evening?

Cathy - Yay on persisting with my no sugar challenge. I have lost track of how long it has been for me....6 weeks or 7 or ? How do you feel being off sugar? Congrats to your son on persisting with STS and increasing his weights and gaining strength.

Regina - Where have you lived in the world? Any favorites?

Donna - I hope you have a blast at your race on the weekend, please report back with all the details. :D

Waving hello everyone else. Feel free to chime in at any time.
:D

Today was Disk 11 Back & Triceps. I think I said last week, that's not really a combo I like together. My weights for some things are just too high, so on 3 exercises I lowered them. My form was already suffering big time because of the weight, and this is only Meso 1. Really not sure how they got that high.

Janis you are exactly a Meso in front of me! I've got one more disk in Meso 1 and it really seems to have gone by very fast. Looking forward to my rest week. Glad to hear that you are looking forward to the move. Would be very hard to just pick up and move that far if you weren't. Curious to see where you end up. Bummer about the tire. :(

Honestly, any differences from being off sugar are subtle. Today I put tiny chocolate chips in the muffins I made for the guys and that was the first time I really wanted something, but it wasn't that hard to ignore them. Do you have any notes anywhere on when you started yours? I've been four weeks already! Doesn't seem like that at all.

Regina are you using video for tabata workouts or something from on-line? That's something I keep meaning to look into more.

Ok, I caved. CTX was already on sale for $59.99 and with the special discounts being offered now it was an additional $15 off. So, with postage it was just a tad under $50. Does anyone have this? Thoughts? Too late cause I already did it, but hearing that it's a good thing wouldn't hurt. :p

Hi Wonderful Warrior Women!

Today I walked/ran on the TM for 30 min. I couldn't face doing my rehab stuff, so instead I did MMA Kickbox. I had a great time and worked up a serious sweat. My hip flexor didn't seem to mind it at all. :D:DYay!:D:D

On to other good news, the screw was right at the tread - side wall margin, so the tire guys were able to repair it! My vehicle is 4wd and is fussy about stability control etc., so when I replace one tire I have to replace all.

Cathy - I am at the end of my 7th week of no sugar. I started on 1/14. Sorry, can't help you with CTX, I don't have it in my arsenal.

I hope everyone is doing well and getting their workouts in.

Has any one seen the new program on Showtime called "Shameless". Really funny, really great storyline, excruciatingly accurate. William H. Macy's role as a alcoholic loser father is spot on.

Tomorrow I am doing my last workout for M2. I changed my mind, next week I am going to do Higher Reps, Total Body and Lower Body Blast.

:D

Today was Cardio Core Circuit. Fun, but oh so tough! Someday....someday I won't have to modify those butterfly sit ups.

Janis that's great news about your tire!!!! So wonderful to hear that your hip flexor wasn't bothered by MMA Kick Box. :D

Not much happening here. Just spent the last hour of so catching up on some volunteer work. Too many things that slid far up in my in box and I really needed to get them done before they got sucked into it forever.

Hey there warriors!

I am temporarily emerging from healthcare hell to say hello. It has been an extremely tough week trying to finalize what we are going to do with the health plans for everyone...and we have to finalize it this week or I will not have time to do open enrollment for the employees. Needless to say I am mentally and physically exhausted and I still have to do open enrollment and the administrative nightmare that comes with it over the next couple of weeks..oh and of course obscene amount of work that has piling on my desk to do, plus whatever the day brings in being in charge of everything to do with people and people strategy for the company. How did I end up here in my life exactly anyway? (one of those questions to send out to the cosmic void to someday get an answer) lol Anyway, enough whining about my job for today.

Cathy and Janis I am completely jealous that you two have found a way to keep yourself going on your STS rotations...everytime I have a plan and try to get myself started on it again I keep pushing it off. I dont know why I have developed such a block to it right now, I need to do weights for my health, to improve athletically, my weight loss and my sanity, thus have to find a way past the block. I have managed to play tennis and step twice this week, but both tuesday and today ended up being unplanned rest days due to work. I need to get up in the morning and do my C25k run/walk to stay on track for my race next month. I am a couple of run/walk interval workouts away from steady state runs for the rest of the time.

Cathy - Great job on the no sugar! I dont eat alot of extras with sugar but to be able to give it up in other things as well just seems too overwhelming to deal with, so kudos to you (and Janis) for being able to stay with it! I bought CTX on one of the sales a couple of months back so I could have some more shorter cardio options, but surprise, surprise I havent done one of the workouts yet. lol Perhaps we will discover them along the way together.

Janis - Its great to hear you doing workouts with no pain! Yeah! Glad your tire episode was resolved with little pain, I hate when something goes wrong with the car. Yes, the pollen is still attacking me. The meds keep the sniffles and the breathing going along alright, but the meds do nothing to help with the puffy and itchy eyes, but I am hanging in there for a few more weeks. Feb/Mar are rough here for oak pollen. I am anxious and excited for you on the move.

Regina - I did manage to watch the oscars. It was a little rough with the two hosts, whats-his-name seemed like he didnt even want to be there and poor Anne had to try to be funny and upbeat for the both of them which never works out pretty at all. I kept cringing at it. As for the Kings Speech, I have not been able to see it yet, but I will hopefully soon. It looks like the kind of movie I would really enjoy.

Alright, time for me to go have a snack and try to wind down before attempting sleep. Catch up with you tomorrow.

Hey Warriors

Cathy how can we be at the end of STS M1 already?? Doesn't seem possible those 4 weeks have just flown away and I'm not even looking foward to the off week. I'd prefer to keep on. Maybe I like it too much or maybe I'm just a Cathe droid throughout and I don't have to think, I can just go on auto-pilot and follow along. From now on there will either have to be serious investment in equipment or some cunningly devised improvs. I can't use my ankle weights on my wrists - as I think someone else said before - my arms are mere twigs and they'd just slip all about.

I got CTX (saw it second hand on e-bay  ) I was very uncertain at first, but it's really grown on me, so do give it a chance. I like to double up 10 10 10 with the kickbox, just love doing that. Plus I also used the All Step for my warm up on my STS disc 11 day this week. I think ALL of the step routines throughout are fab in there even though lots of them are short and sometimes she doesn't do a 'challenge' to end so you never see them often enough to get bored with them.

Regina I loved reading about your 'Olympic' w/o. You've definitely got it going on there girl. What a fabulously interesting life you really do have.

MJ Pollen ugh. It's later here for us starts in about 8 weeks and pretty much a mucus-fest along til July. :(

Janis Very exciting gearing up for a move. You'll have loads of energy to pack everything and mobilise everyone as you've had no sugar for so long you definitely must be detox-maxed by now. I'll be right on in there and sugar-free in a few more weeks.

I had a hair appt on Tues, but when I arrived my hairdresser friend wasn't there. We've been M8s for 20 years and this is definitely not the first time that she's either been out when I've gone there or let me down at my house when I'm hanging around waiting. I had hoped she'd gone and got herself all mature and those days were gone, but obviously not. It's annoyed me as I ditched stuff on Tues to accommodate her and now I've got to fit it into my Saturday when we already had stuff planned for the entire day. We've got tickets for a big name 'stand up' tomorrow night which I bought for DD for Christmas.

Have a good one kids. Enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy (I just made that up :p )

Kim xxxxx

Kim, Meso 1 has just flown by hasn't it!!! Disk 12 is now done and I'm looking forward to my rest week. I ended up using my 10 lb vest a lot because the weights I was supposed to use are just rather heavy for an endurance workout. I also ended up doing a lot of adjusting up and down, so I plugged all the changes in to get new 1RM's. I've got lots of cardio and core on tap for next week, and I'm hoping that CTX arrives in time to try some of those cardio/ab routines.

I'm thinking after STS, I'll do two weeks of CTX and then do Cathe's Feb. rotation and then start up with STS again. That puts me done with STS sometime in October and I'll do other stuff through the end of the year and start up again in January. I like doing STS twice a year. In the fall, depending on how much time Derek will be at the school for his classes, I'm thinking of adding walking in during the week for extra calorie burn.

That is annoying about your hairdresser. I've had mine for around 30 years. :p But, she actually has a business in her home so appts are always on time. I'm just letting mine grow and haven't been in a long time, but she also does the boys hair and DH's. Enjoy the show tomorrow night. Sounds like a fun time. :D

Oh. I have small wrists too, but luckily my ankle weights have long straps, so I can get them tight enough. Weighted gloves and the wrist weights are definitely something you should invest in. Enabling, enabling....;) Mine are actually the FIRMS that I bought in like '92. Same with my barbell. I even still have my wooden steps, though these days I use one to hold my workout cards/water and the other for the dogs dishes.

MJ, I'm so sorry that work is sapping so much of your energy these days. :( You are doing something and regularly, and it's natural that when you are feeling drained you'd turn to the things that you enjoy the most and let the other stuff slide. Think about what kinds of things motivate you and make yourself little notes to stick around your home reminding you of all the reasons you feel you should do weights. Can you tack on 10-15 minutes a day of weights and hit one area? Right down a few body weight exercises for each area and toss those in when you have a few minutes. I know that I'm terribly guilty of having the mindset that I have to do it in such a way as a "real" workout. But, you can get benefits out of doing shorter, multiple times per day activities.

Hello All Warriors!

Cathy- I have CTX. My favorites from it are Leaner Legs, the upper body split and the all ABS premix workouts. I usually devise my own Tabata workouts using kettlebells or use one of my son workouts that he devised for his athletes. The last tabata workout that I did wasone of the DVDs in the Supreme 90 workouts called Tabata Inferno.

JANIS- I have a 4 wheel drive too and know how fussy tires can be. Congrats on your 7th week of no sugar! I have lived in Guam (hated it), Egypt, Ghana, Philippines, Israel, Germany, France. I have also lived in CA, VA, MD, OR, SC, NC, TN. I have passed through too many places to name. My favorite place is right here on the east coast of the good ole USA. I hope that you relocate to a place that you like.

Workout yesterday- AOS- Providence and Rainbeau Mars- Power Yoga

Workout today-Back, Biceps and later this afternoon I hope to do a short leg workout and/or cardio. Maybe I will do a Plyo leg workout and get both cardio and legs done together.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend!
