Winsor Pilates

Hey everyone,
Just wondered if you have tried Mari Winsor's pilates that is in the infomercial right now? Or if you've done any of her other classes and what results have you noticed?

I just received her Sculpt Your Body Slim (it has Basics, 20 Minute Workout and Accelerated Body Sculpting) I also got the Ab, Bun and Thigh Scupting DVD)

I ordered these because I thought they might be more advanced than the Pilates I've been doing? I'm hoping anyway.

I'd like to know your experiences. I do know that the moves whittle your waist. Especially the floor side raises that Cathe uses.

Hi Wanda,

There was a recent thread about Pilates (and spinning)...

http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=4&topic_id=75069&mesg_id=75069&page=4

I posted on that thread (Jcrew3082), and I'd like to add that I think Pilates is something that you're "into" or you're not. I think it's a good addition to a fitness routine for improving flexibility, coordination, and core strength. However, I wouldn't make it the main focus of my program, just a "supplement."

Hope this helps!

I have a few Pilates videos...Ana Caban,Crunch,Breakthrough Core,Winsor Ab Sculpting and Stott Pilates. It's true, either you are into it or not. The only ones I like are the Stott ones because they seem to make sense without the hype. It's basically the same moves but Stott presents it in a calm clinical way which actually links your breathing to the movement. I like Core Challenge and Lean and Strong.
Winsor Ab Sculpting moves a tad too fast for me. It makes me wonder how I'm supposed to do them with good form at that speed.
I agree that Pilates should be used as a supplement rather than be the main dish. It really helps me with the running and although I used to think it was all hype...just a few workouts with Stott did improve my core strength noticeably. Then again...I seriously doubt it would slim down lumpy fat thighs. It's cardio and lunges for that.

I ordered the Winsor pilates (3 tape set) after seeing it on TV about this time last year. I previewed the instructional, tried the beginner tape several times which was far too easy and then moved on to the advanced tape. I thought it was a great change at first but then I got completely bored. There's too much talk in between moves. By the time I fast forwarded through the talk of what's next etc I cut the 50 minutes down to 30 minutes.

Mari is a great instructor but after you've done the tape several times you can get into position without all the instruction. Maybe she should just remind you as your doing it rather than have you sat there listening before getting into position.

On a positive note, I did increase my flexibility and core strength so I guess the video is effective then.
