Why are the last 10 pounds so stubborn?!

Can someone please explain why it's so darn difficult to lose the last 10 pounds?? I've been "trying" to lose the "last 10 pounds" for three YEARS! I didn't realize this until I looked at my weight loss chart that I've kept since 2005 a few days ago. That got me thinking that I'm obviously not doing something right. Can anyone enlighten/educate me on what happens to the body once you reach a certain weight? Why is it so hard to lose the last 10?

Thanks!
Terri

I'm in the same boat!
I'd love to hear others responses.
I have a feeling alot of it - at least for me, is not being consistant with my diet.
I just began adding 1 to 2 more cardio sessions in the week. I'm hoping this helps too! I have also begun, keeping track of my food intake. Hopefully, this will shed some light for me too.

Love to hear others responses too

Are you sure you need to lose those 10 lbs? If you're in the healthy weight range according to your doctor, and don't have a medical condition that you should lose weight for, and if you eat well and sleep well and exercise well, maybe your body is trying to tell you "I'm SOOOO happy right where I am thanks anyhow :~))" Just something to think about, but I'm sure we'd ALL like to be 10 lbs thinner just to look more like society's ideal!

Diane, that's a good point. And I've thought about that, thinking that maybe this is the weight my body is most comfortable with. And I have to admit, it's a "scale thing." I HATE the number on the scale. But regardless, I could lose 10 pounds and no one would say, wow, you're so thin. There is a bona fide 10 pounds to lose.
