WHY AM I GETTING BIGGER?!

OK, on my second week of insanity. Followed rotation the first week, but this week had to add weighted workouts, feel incomplete without them. Anyway, I seem to be increasing in size instead of decreasing, what's up with that?! I remember yrs ago reading that when you start a new way of working out your muscles retain extra water for a couple wks, sort of like a protection I guess. Could that be the case here? I'm feeling totally discouraged.

p.s. I haven't changed anything in my diet.
 
Sounds about right to me. I would give it another week or two before you take action. Insanity is a super intense (as you know) workout that's new to your body. You have to let it respond as it would to any other change.
 
I remember when I first started doing Cathe's workouts I did this, so you'd think I could learn a little patience, but it's just so frustrating. Hopefully that's all it is.
 
You definitely should not get bigger in the end. I am sure it's just temporary water weight as you mentioned. I added some weight training to the Insanity rotation (once a week) and lost weight, leaned out and defined my muscles. Keep at it! I am sure you'll be very happy with your results! :)
 
I found that drinking extra water and some light cardio (walking, easy jogs) helps to get rid of the excess water your muscles hold on to.
 
thanks for your responses and support ladies :) I know it's a wait it out game, but it helps to hear that others have been thru it too and there is hope
