Who is ACE Certified?

Hello Everyone,

I would like to get my Personal Trainer Certification through ACE next year and was wondering if those who have already done this could tell me what study materials they used and any other supplemental course they found helpful? If I am going to spend the money I want to make sure I get the right stuff, so I can pass the test !

Hi Linda,

I'm certified with ACE as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I ordered both textbooks (you might be able to find them cheaper on amazon) and studied them on my own. I also attended a weekend "Exercise Etc." review class which I found so helpful. I did pretty well on the exam and I think it's all because of the review class. It was pricey - but so is taking the exam again if you don't pass. I thought it was WELL worth the price. Plus I got to meet other people who were in my shoes - which is always nice. I hope that helps some. I know some other people here are certified with them (Cathe is too!) and I believe they are a credible organization. Good luck!

Alice - They were just text books you used. I know if you look on ACE's website, it looks like some kits that you can purchase? You didn't use those? And thanks for the info on the review class. All of this helps alot.



If anyone else has suggestions I would love to hear them.

I actually did buy the personal training 'kit' thing you're referring to but I NEVER used it. All of the info was in the textbook and that was good enough for me. I went through the book chapter by chapter and took notes. After that I just studied my notes. Personally, I learn better when I actually write down my thoughts instead of just reading from a book - but that's just how I learn. Hope that helps! Oh, and I'm Carolyn not Alice . I have an Alice Walker quote as part of my signature - but you're not the first person to call me that. I think I may change it since it can be confusing.

Thanks Carolyn! Sorry about that! I know your name is Carolyn because I have read your posts hundreds of times. But of course don't you know when I actually go and write to you my eye catches the Alice instead! Again, sorry and thanks so much for the help! I agree with you, I retain more if I write it down, too!
