Who didn't care for P90X?

I have purchased the P90X series, while I have just tried the first DVD, Chest and Back, the fun factor was not their for me. I was just so boring and long! Who else didn't care for the P90X? Too many push ups and pull ups for me!

Also, is their a good subsitute for Pull-ups? I just don't think I can do them and also the fun factor isn't their either!

Well, I'm off to do a Cathe step tape.....:)

Thanks for all your thoughts!

You know, I think (for me at least) Tony takes a little getting used to. I tried to do the classic rotation last summer and just couldn't seem to get motivated. I'd miss workouts and not make them up. And I think I maybe did the YogaX once or twice. Now I am just about to finish my 3rd week into a rotation and I am sooooo into it. Who knows why????

If there are too many push ups sub some pec flys or bench presses in there.

I can not do even one pull up but just from trying and using the chair modification I can really see a difference in my back definition. You could do other back work barbell rows, dumbell rows etc if you want.

Anyway, I think they(BB) have a 30 day money back guarantee. Maybe try a for a while and if it still doesn't click return it. That's way too much money to spend on something you don't like

I bought the resistance bands and used them for a substitute for the pull ups. I thinkt aht the variety in this exercise was good and was glad that I used the bands instead of barbells rows, etc.

I think that the chest & back section of this routine is the hardest one to get through and stay motivated. It isn't very exciting but it is effective. Don't worry though...the others are better ;)

I like P90X but I would never be able to do it for 90 days. The YogaX is something that I do once in a while and enjoy but if I have to do it several times in one week...bah humbug!

So, the long and short of it is that you might change your mind!

>Also, is their a good subsitute for Pull-ups?

Pull downs with a resistance cord and door attachment (I usually would do some of these, even after I got a Power Tower, in order to be able to get some nice numbers);
Heavy one-arm rows, alternating sides with each set.
Heavy pullovers.

Here's my take on this.....If you feel exercise is important and you want to be motivated to do it every day...then Cathe is SOOOO much fun and she will keep you motivated!! If you are YEARNING to progress in your muscular definition and build serious muscle....the P90X is outstanding and your desire alone will keep you going. It is NOT for everyone as everyones goals are different. BUT when I got the series...I was looking to really define and get "more cut" and there is NOTHING on the market that is it's equal. If it doesn't motivate you...do Cathe and have a blast. If you ever reach the point where you want to build more muscle or shake things up...go for the P90X. (I'm NOT saying that you don't build muscle with Cathe's - I built quite a foundation with Cathe, but the P90X pushed me beyond where I was at and I continue to do P90X workouts in my Cathe rotations). You do not buy the P90X for it's "fun workout" factor. BB has other workouts that may fill that description - turbo jam for one. After you've worked out for a few years....that "burning desire" to see muscles pop may overtake you and you'll whip out your dusty P90X series and dive right in and say....why didn't I like this??? ;-) ;-) ;-) They compliment Cathe's so well!!!
