Which Circuit Workout

Help me decide which circuit workout to get. I have BS&BF. BF was too easy and I don't really enjoy using tubing. I prefer dumbells. I don't have a barbell (yet?). I hear that C&W is mostly upper body sculpting. Is there a circuit w/o that is more lower body sculpting so that they can be alternated? Thank you in advance for any input you can give me.

Hi There,

You don't mention what level you are, but I think Circuit Max is an AWESOME circuit workout that works both the upper and lower body. Step, Jump, and Pump is good, too, but I do like Circuit Max more. They are both an advanced level. Bootcamp is also great--less cardio, very intense, probably the most lower body, combined with upper body and core work in every cycle (there are 8 cycles).

None of the above uses tubing.

I hope that helps! Goodluck!

In addition to what Dukechick said, the KPC/Legs&Glutes DVD has a bunch of great circuit premixes that combined kickboxing cardio with purely leg work.

Then there are CTX Power Circuit and BodyMax which both have cardio/leg circuits in them.

Try also the high step workouts, the original and the challenge. They are both circuits.

Circuit Max is the toughest and is very advanced, it really focuses on upper body toning. Bootcamp is also tough, but at least with Bootcamp you could eliminate some of the cardio sections if you want and do more weights and core, adding in more cardio sections as you get fitter.

Circuit Max is a killer workout, but I disagree that it focuses on upper body more. The squats, plies and lunges inbetween the songs all work my legs. My lower body is toast at the end of it. And if you want to make it more lower body intense, use a barbell or two heavy dumbbells on your shoulders and do only the leg work (none of the upper body).

My first Cathe workout was Circuit Max, and it did kick my butt. But my it was good - I love dripping sweat like that.

BootCamp is another good one - it's a total body workout and like previously mentioned can be made so that it's not as high impact. The DVD comes with Muscle Endurance and you can pretty much tailor a cardio/muscle workout to suit your needs that way.

Another option for Upper and Lower body is Body Max - it's an older one and it's LONG - 90 minutes - but it can be broken up and it's a favorite on the boards.

And you can always do Pinky's version of Low Max (it's Low Max with a bunch of squats, lunges, leg presses, etc thrown in) and it works you good.

Another idea is if you like Kickboxing, get Kick Punch and Crunch and Legs and Glutes. There are some great premixes on that one that give you a great lower body workout with cardio.

My new favorite cicuit workout is High Step Challenge. I still can't complete all strength sections (resistance bands, push-ups, even some of the cardio) and I am intermediate/advanced. Each time I do this, I gain more and more respect for it. There are a multitude of ways to make it more challenging, like, for instance using an 8" step for cardio.

Man my shoulders burn after this one!

Make sure you consider this because I find the music fun too.

If I want circuits for just my legs I use the circuits in BodyMax plus those in CTX-Power Circuits. The cardio and lower body premix in Bootcamp is also a good one. Sometimes I do the high step workouts and just skip through the upper body segments so I can do cardio and lower body.
