Where's Aquajock?

Oh No I bet it finally happened.

One too many mish moshes.

Say it isn't so AJ!!!!

Briee

Maybe you could post that final mish mosh AJ...the "It finally did me in" mish mosh. :p :p :p :p

(I'm hoping you are REALLY okay AJ.....you know that right?)

LOL Briee!! I just KNEW it would kill her one day!!

Good, I don't have to be jealous anymore!:)

Nah, you know I luv ya A-jock!:)

Hark! I hear my name called!

Thanks for thinking of me! I've had a few whizz-bangs and hairpin turns going on my home life recently that have taken up all my time, some things good, others not so much. I've been able to post a mini rotation on the Rotations forum but that's about it.

As far as being done in by my own mish-moshes, well . . . in your dreams. I've been spending some time getting unified with the Kick Max Boot Camp Challenge and the I-max 3 Blast Only premix, and man do I love those plie jacks!

Had some good news though, yesterday, that validated every effort I've ever put into fitness: took my blood pressure and (mid-day) resting heart rate yesterday, and the numbers came back 118/62 and 46 bpm respectively. Not bad for a broad from a family with a history of high BP and heart disease!

Keep on truckin', ladies!

A-Jock

Glad to see you posting, A-Jock! I've been wondering about you too.

And nice to see you posting, too, Briee! Are you on the home stretch with homeschooling? (Sounds like a flexibility workout for homeschoolers.)

Hi Aquajock,
Are you planning to go to the Cathe weekend? I was hoping you would be there. I always enjoy your posts. Would like to meet you.
Although your mish-moshes kill me.

Susan G

Hi, Susan G! Thanks for your kind words!

Alas, it is not in the cards for me to go to the Cathe weekend this time out; summer tends to get very, very busy at my office AND DH and I already have a blowout return trip to Washington DC planned for the fall, which will vacuum up quite a few sheckles.

Keep doin' my mish-moshes, my friend. In Mish-Mosh Land, what kills you makes you stronger.

Love,

A-Jock

Oh yes...my "homeschooling flexibility" would give that evil Brian Kest a run for his money }( }( }( }( . Needless to say we will be schooling all summer, with lots of mini breaks I'm sure. Thanks for asking.

Our building project has become way too overwhelming at present, but amidst it....I did manage to print off AJ's "somebody stop me before I mish mosh again" (I think it was) mish mosh and have been doing it a few times per week....sinister as it is. Buckingham wanted desperately to respond to the squirrel banter on that thread, but he has been sequestered to the eastern side of our home and forced to work at slave labor rates. I will say that carrying 47 foot floor joists up our "mountain", because trucks can't get up it, could rival even the SSM - mish mosh. He's got biceps on his biceps - some would pay big bucks to a personal trainer for that!!!

AJ....a quickie question if you don't mind. When you do that particular mish mosh (alternating all those blasts with squats, lunges, etc. Do you consider this your "lower body workout along with cardio day"??? Do you also do a heavy weight leg day during the week? If so...how does that look? Do you ever do this mish mosh with lower reps and heavy weights or does this cause you to loose the cardio factor? Or maybe you actually DO this mish mosh with a 60-70 lb bar and all those reps - demented as you are. }( }( Thanks

Oh yes! That's what I'm afraid of. I wasn't kidding when I said I'd do one of your mish-moshes everyday after a bodypart. While I curse you, with every ounce of my body, I still praise your horrific, brutal mind.

Marla

P.S. If I am not in shape by July for Cathe's trip, then there is no hope for me.

Glad to see your post, A-Jock! As you can see, you were well missed! Sorry you won't be attending the weekend with Cathe this year. I was really hoping to finally meet the "Mish-Mosh Mistress of Pain"!

Sanchia

Hi, Briee! I think my answers to your questions are: Yes; Yes; and No.

The leg-circuit mish-moshes I've cooked up, alternating blasts with barbell squats and lunges, I consider my cardio-with-lower-body-benefits day; those are usually Mondays in the late afternoon. These days I use a 52.5-lb barbell for that.

I do a 10-minute heavy leg set on Sunday mornings after one of my strictly-cardio mish-moshes. Combined weightload for squats, plie squats and lunges at varying tempos and holds (done to about 110-bpm music) is 80 lbs including barbell and weight vest. I'm able to do sustained sets during that overall set with only 3 eight-count breaks. I also do another 15 minutes of isolated leg muscle work with 10.5-lb ankle weights immediately afterward to bang the glutes, hams, abductors and adductors.

Would I try to do the leg-circuit mish-moshes with lower reps and heavier weights - probably not. I only need one heavy-weight set for the legs a week, and the leg-circuit mish-moshes and my aquatic work are for upper-margin endurance.

I trust I've overanswered your question.

A-Jock

80 lbs? 80 LBS??????? How on earth do you lift that over your head? Some is your weight vest, but that's still gotta be a pretty heavy load on the bar. I was doing squats and plie squats with a 45 lb barbell last night and my SO had to come and lift it off for me. I got it up there, but there was no way I was getting it down.:p

AJ...you can't "overanswer" enough for me. I'm a detail person ONLY when it comes to workouts. Thanks so much. I've been undertraining my legs lately and opting for more upperbody concentration, but I'm getting my priorities back in order. This helps a bunch and has been printed off to go next to the other AJ sheets on my workout room wall. You're causing quite a bit of clutter on my wall, the only TRULY appreciated clutter in my home mind you.

Limecat...can I answer for AJ? I believe she uses a nicely weighted vest, safety first (she's also quite smart - I bet you didn't know that). I on the other hand (probably very stupidly) load the bar up and turn my weight bench backwards and get under the bar from behind. I go HEAVY....but I take breaks....much longer than AJ...she's a beast!! AND 52.5 pounds for THAT mish mosh, wow, that's inspiring....I need inspiration. Thanks AJ....you can probably do pullups in reverse...hanging from you ankles. I think Soooooooooosan can do those too.

Briee

Briee, I was going to answer your pull-up question to Maximus on that thread, but now that you've mentioned my name on this one (which, by the way, has 13 0's -- not 10), I'll answer it here.

I couldn't even do one pull-up, but the way I got up to doing 824 of them was by pulling myself up one millimeter higher every day for 19,776 days (which = 54.18 years). I've learned on this forum that it's always better to increase incrementally (be it cardio, strength, flexibility or whatever) in order to avoid injury, so that's what I did with pull-ups. Once I get to 1000, I'll try them in reverse like you mentioned.

Soooooooooooooosan, I typed only 10 because I have been in a snotty mood lately (I think it's actually a carbohydrate sensitivity)....sometimes when Cathe says "stay down for 2 more counts"....I stay for 3 due to the very nature of snotiness. I'll get over it one of these days..... when I grow up, which should be soon. You must have been a math major. Math was one of my best subjects, but I encountered trouble when I had to write the answer. I'd show all my work and when I got to the end of the equation...I'd add one more - just to mess with the prof's mind. This did NOT always work to my advantage.

I think you oughta rewrite that pullup article. Your methods are obvious tried and true. NO BANDS FOR YOU GIRL!!!! YOU GO!!! I think it should be pointed out that people who doubt your methods need only try them for 54+ years and they too can reap the benefits. I'm starting today. Technically it shouldn't take me as long since my arms are shorter than yours right?

Briee

(You are too much!!)

By the way....you only have 12.57 more years to go and you'll be in reverse mode;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

No math major here! I can't even help my poor 7th grader with his algebra sometimes. I did, however, win a jump rope in 2nd grade for being the first to get all the addition/subtraction flashcards right.

I wrote a pull-up article outlining my tried-and-true method a couple of months ago. It was in the recent issue of "Squirrel Fitness." Does Buckingham still subscribe?

Buck not only subscribes, but has applied for a position on staff (okay it's only the mail room, but he has to start somewhere - I guess were not paying him enough to work on our addition). Ungrateful little rat.

RE: pullups...he is trying your brilliant methods and is truly progessing quickly, of course his arms are only like 5 cm in length, so his progress should parellel his life expectancy quite nicely.

Briee

Oh yes...congratulations on your outstanding math achievements...that jumprope probably started it all and now look at you.......824 pullups at a shot. What a success story!!:7 :7 :7
