Where oh where are my BICEPS?!

I hope everyone is having a pleasant Sunday :)

Here's my question: I have nice definition in my triceps, shoulders and back. Try as I might though, I cannot get my biceps to "pop." When I flex they do, and look good, but when my arms are down...nada. They don't look flabby, they are toned but there is not that nice little bump I see on other's arms.

anyone have any suggestions? I read somewhere that degree of defintion can depend on where the muscle attaches to the bone, so maybe this is the problem and a lost cause.

Thanks!!

Sparrow

Hey Sparrow --

I can only tell you what worked for me; not sure if it will work for you. I noticed a BIG change in my biceps when I started doing PUB on a regular basis (1x per week) in addition to an endurance workout (like Muscular Endurance -- 1x per week) and heavy weight work at the gym 1x per week. So that's working them 3x per week. For some people, that's too much. For me, it worked great. Also, dropping the bodyfat is a must to see the definition. And when doing bicep curls -- really concentrate on squeezing the muscle at the top instead of just going through the motions.

Good luck!

Shonie,

I believe everything you are saying as you have great looking killer arms! I am doing the same workouts, but I don't go to a gym. I wish my arms would get bigger. Hubby says they will.

Hey Charlotte,

First, YOU look great! How long have you been working out seriously? I have been lifting for over 10 years -- but only REALLY into it over the last 5. So it takes some time. Your arms WILL get bigger if you do 2 things: work them HARD with lots of different exercises and eat enough protein! Your hubby is right.

Be patient with yourself. You already look amazing!

Hi Angela --

I do at least 1 hour of cardio everyday. However, it isn't always maximum intensity. Yesterday, for example, I walked on the treadmill (3.8 mph at a 4-8 incline). So it wasn't really intense.

For me, working lower body almost everyday (and more endurance than strength) works best. Otherwise, my lower body GROWS so much bigger than my upper body. I like to keep it in proportion...so I don't focus so much on building my lower body. However, I DO incorporate one HEAVY leg day per week at the gym. HEAVY = squats (135 lbs) or Leg Press (300 lbs).
