Where are the Idol peeps?

So who is going home folks? I have to say I haven't watched a lot of the singing lately as I just read the reviews and such. I think I run out of patience for commericals and filler crap.

From what I gather, I think it will be Jordin going home. Before you fling steaming poo at me...lemme 'splain. She has a beautiful voice, but it seems like she did not stay up w/ the competition last night. I think Blake has that major originality factor and Melinda has by far the strongest, most consistent vocals.

That being said, I think Jordin, if she does go, will do just fabulously by herself. I mean, look at Daughtry. I flippin love his stuff & I have no idea what Hicks has been up to. So there.

i tried to watch it last night.... but kept dozing off.... so went to bed during jordin's 2nd song..... i'll watch this evening when i get home from work...

based on past weeks... i want blake to go.... everything of his sounds the same! and that same old shuffle shuffle every week... i've been over him for weeks.....

i want jordin to win... she, IMO, is more of an american idol than melinda.... although i think melinda will do great on her own!

does hicks even have an album out? fantasia? ruben? i've bought several of carrie's tracks from itunes (and even kellie's red high heels)

This is the first year that I've watched that I really don't care who wins because I think they are all great.

Personally, I like Melinda the best, but I'd buy CDs from all three.

Taylor Hicks didn't do well because they try to commercialize whoever wins into main stream music and it wasn't his style from the beginning. He would have been better off, as Daughtry was, not winning so he could do his own thing.

I think Blake is going home. I did like the Maroon 5 song he sang but otherwise I haven't been that impressed with him lately. Melinda is by far the most consistent and I do enjoy listening to her. Jordin wasn't as good as usual last night but I did really enjoy her last song and it didn't sound "old" to me like Simon said. Taylor Hicks has been performing in New York at the Beacon Theater and at North Fork Theater.

I predicted that Melinda and Blake would be the final two. I was half right! I love Blake! I hope he goes all the way. I think Melinda's gonna do fine on her own. To me, Jordin's just kinda oh boring. Go Blake!

I think Melinda has a beautiful voice!! However, according to my teenage daughters, she is too old-fashion in how she looks and sings and they had already said she would lose.

She's gonna make it big anyway!!!

Add me to the SHOCKED list. I like Blake, but compared to Melinda, I think he would come in 3rd.

When I was watching it last night, and they showed them all going home, I had an inkling that Melinda didn't have the fan base that Jordin and Blake have.

p.s. This Saturday, the tickets go on sale for the live tour. I'll be online trying to buy them. My kids really want to go, and the tour is coming to a fair that's just a few towns over! PSYCHED!
 
Melinda was a professional back up singers, Blake and Jordin are amateurs. I think a lot of peoples votes were affected by that. I never thought Melinda should have been in the competition because she was a professional. She has a great voice, but not a different sound. She sounds like a lot of other singers. Blake and Jordin have more of an original sound, especially Blake.
 
I agree, Bill. Blake especially is very original - he's my favorite, and I hope since mostly teeny-bopper girls vote that he wins.
 
I was shocked!
I was sure Melinda would be in the top 2--she's been the front-runner almost all the way--but I wasn't sure which of the other two would go. I like them both, but I wasn't crazy about Jordin's last few performances.

But hasn't this happened almost every season when it gets down to the top 3--someone who seems like a front-runner gets voted off?

I'm sure Melinda will have a very successful career---and she already has contacts that the others don't have, from being a professional background singer.

I also thought it was a bit unfair that professionals were allowed in the contest. And the age range--16 to 29 (Melinda's age)--doesn't seem very fair either.
