When to start one part per day?

Cathe,

I have been doing full body weight workouts "off and on" but not consistently. I was lifting heavier weights a few years ago.

My question is, is it ok for me to jump right in doing a one body part per day rotation, or do I need to build up to it by doing more consistent full body workouts first? If so, for how long?

My goals are to gain strength and to shed those last 10 pounds.

I appreciate your time and help!

I dont see any reason why you shouldnt be able to jump right in though you may be a bit sore at first. You might want to consider doing a split routine for a few weeks first.

Thanks--do you mean legs one day, upper body the next etc? Maybe two workouts for each per week?

The Pure Strength series is an excellent set up for a split routine...Legs one day, and then on other days Chest/Shoulders/Triceps and then Back/Biceps, so you're basically doing an upper body split. Dividing the upper body up into separate days allows you to lift a bit heavier for each body part. Another split routine is Slow & Heavy which pairs shoulders with legs.

Hi Thea! You'll be fine....Jump right in! If your concerned, just start for the first two weeks with slightly lighter weight.

Thanks so much Cathe and everyone else who replied! I will take your advice and just jump right in! I appreciate your help and all your wonderful work!
