When did you tell your employer?

I've always felt it's best to wait until 2nd trimester to tell. However my 1st ob appt isn't until I'm 15 weeks along. Should I tell earlier? My maternity leave means my boss will take over ALL my hours for 12 weeks. He has a sick wife too, so I"m not too excited about telling him...

Well, I actually told him today. I"m starting to get pudgy around the middle. I'm sure the ladies here would start talking soon. You know how ladies are. ;) Anyway,...I feel better now. :D

I didn't wait at all. I told my boss as soon as I found out! lol But it depends on the situation, the relationship you have with your boss/employer, etc...My boss and I talked about alot of things that most probably don't talk about with thier boss so I felt comfortable telling him right away. I knew it would be okay.

Well, because my dh was telling EVERYONE at the country club where my boss is also a member, I had to tell my boss just before 8 weeks so he wouldn't find out "through the grapevine." I swore him to secrecy, and told a few others I'm close to at 12 weeks just before a business trip. When I returned the next week, everyone knew!

I told them after my 16 week visit. I really wanted to wait until the 1st trimester was over. I just wanted to wait until the doctor said everything was still OK.
