What's your favorite Xmas (that's right, XMAS) movie?

I'm weird, I know, but I don't really like traditional Christmas movies. Every year at Christmas time I watch Bridget Jones Diary and Love Actually. They aren't typical Christmas movies, but take place during the season. I love them.

I love Christmas movies too! My top two are Christmas Vacation and the original animated version of the Grinch.

Life of Brian. The Monty Python movie about a guy who is born on the same night on the same street as the baby Jesus, and accidentally comes to be regarded as someone great despite being a shlub. Hilarious! :7

Not unlike The Tall Blonde Man With One Black Shoe in which a bumbling, ordinary chap is mistaken for an important international spy and followed everywhere. Also hilarious, but Life of Brian is better for Christmas. :p :+

I think I have a top three:

1) The Polar Express

2) Christmas Vacation

3) A Christmas Carol ( George C. Scott )

Christmas Story and The Grinch (the original though, not the remake with Jim Carrey). And for all you Grinch lovers, it is on tonight @8:00.

I love them all!! Another one not mentioned is Elf w/ Will Ferrell. That movie CRACKS me up!!

It's a Wonderful Life is probably my fav but I do love A Christmas Story & of course Christmas Vacation. And I love watching Polar Express & Charlie Brown Christmas, & Frosty w/ my kids. Oh, and Home Alone, but we watch that one year-round! See, too many good ones! ;-)

A Christmas Story!! So funny! I can't believe there are still people who haven't seen it (my DH included until last year)! I have threatened to get him the "leg lamp" - his Major Prize!! :p :p

Edie, I got my dad the leg lamp for Xmas last year & he just about died. He's Jewish but he grew up in the '40s/50s so he just adores a Christmas Story & has actually seen Gene Shephard speak (read?) at Princeton U a few times.

I think it was the best gift I ever got him. Certainly it was the best reaction to a gift I ever saw. He thought it was from Italy (JK!). And yes, it is prominently displayed in his front window.

Another vote for "A Christmas Story"--I leave the marathons on TV when I go to bed. Going to sleep with it on and waking up with it on feels so Christmas-y to me.:D

I can't make it through A Charlie Brown Christmas without bawling. You know the scene where everyone makes fun of the scrawny tree? It's all over for me when Linus says "It's not a bad little tree really" and wraps his blanket around it. <<<WAAHHHHH!>>>
