What will happen to my skin if I reduce my muscle mass?

Hi,
I'm in my sixties, so the old skin doesn't bounce back like it used to. I've been working out with Cathe since the early 90's and have developed shoulders like you wouldn't believe for someone my age. I don't lift really heavy but just have the kind of frame and body that builds fairly easily.

I'd like to try not using weights for awhile to become a little less bulky looking in my upper body but I'm afraid I will end up with huge flapping batwings. I don't have much fat to lose, it is muscle.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Good for you for retaining so much muscle. Have you ever tried Horizontal Conditioning? These are very much core based but there's alot of bodyweight work in terms of various planks/ push-ups etc that I think would still provide muscle maintenance. I really like this trainer Sandra as she's very down to earth and sincere - and she does every last darn rep with you just like Cathe!

Hi,' I'll be 60 in a few months and I've also been doing Cathe for many years. Just like you I have great shoulders with lot's of muscles...kind of like that. Anyway, lately I did a complete rotation (108 days) of Ultimate Yogi and BOY it's not easy. Lot's of bodyweight work with TONS of vinyasa. I was missing the weight lifting so here's my rotation. I mix the 90 days Low Impact Series and X Train rotation with the Ultimate Yogi. So one day is Cathe and the next is Yoga. I usually add a short HIIT cardio or any kind of Hight Intensity cardio to the yoga day. I like the way my body responds to this rotation. Not too much heavy weight lifting but just enough to let my muscles know I still care.
And you don't have to worry about those batwings with the Ultimate Yogi...just won't happen, way too many chatoranga for that.
Good luck

LOL! - unless you have a batmobile parked in your garage! Just kidding...interesting combination or workouts though, I didn't even think of yoga.

Hi Jamie,
Thanks for your response. I do use Sandra once or twice a week, they are killers. My core has really benefitted from her routines as well as my legs, surprisingly. I will keep that up. Thanks again.

Thanks for this. I have the Ultimate Yogi collection but never tried doing it thinking yoga just wasn't enough of a workout, but I'm going to absolutely incorporate your suggestions into my weekly schedule.

Thanks so much for suggesting this.
