What to give DD new babysitter for X-Mas??

We recently just changed baby-sitters after three years because that "Womans intuition" told me the old one had too many little ones. The new one, since mid-September, is WONDERFUL!! She watches 2-3 toddlers at a time; and no babies. DD only goes 2 days a week because grandmothers have her the other three.

I was thinking of giving her cash for Christmas....but how much??? I pay $15 a day for my daughter. What is appropriate? All suggestions welcome as well as other gifts besides cash.

First let me tell you how affordable your babysitter is. I am a SAHM, but I have friends who have in home daycare and it is more costly than that.

Anyway, cash is always nice and I am sure she could use it. Walmart, grocery store, or Target gift card is nice also. I say 25 dollars or more.

Other idea: Movie theater gift certificate and nice restraunt gift certificate, so she can go out with her SO/dh.

Good luck,
Lori

I agree - your babysitter is very affordable.

I had 2 in a home day care in Chicago. Most of the parents gave her 50 - 100 for Christmas. This is a large city, so it is more expensive. If you can afford 50, I would do it.

This is the only time of year it is appropriate to "tip" your day care provider. Go for it.

I stay at home now and my neighbor is a day care provider. She loves basketball and one of her families (they have 2 kids in her day care) gave her a tickets to a Portland Trailblazer game, plus dinner coupons for her whole family (4 people). She also typically gets about 25 to 50 from each child's family.

Hope this helps.

I think a giftcard to Barnes&Nobel would be nice. I love it b/c you can listen to Cds before you buy them. Also a massage certificate or a collection of bathstuff would be nice because i am sure she could use some relaxation after babysitting toddlers all day! they really keep you on the go!!

Thanks guys...I think I'll give her a weeks pay or $30, and then something from Bath and Body works for a nice relaxing bath!! Good Ideas.
