What kind of rotation should I do?

Hi,

I'm trying to pick a rotation for the next month or so and am stuck. I want to burn fat - main priority. But I've recently finished P90X, and enjoy the heavy weight training.

Do you think it truly makes a difference whether one does a "fatloss" rotation (mucho cardio, endurance-type weight training), versus a "strength" rotation (less cardio, heavy weight training)?

I personally tend to think the key to fat/weight loss is about what you put in your mouth, not about the specific type of exercise you do. It's just important to do some kind of activity almost daily, and eat well.

What do you think? If I want to lose bodyfat, do I *need* to do intense cardio 5-6 days a week, combined with endurance weight training? Or can I get away with cardio 3 days a week, and heavy weight training the other three? It goes without saying that I'm eating clean.

Thanks for your opinions,
Sandra

Hi Sandra--
I'm no expert, but I really think it depends more on what you eat than the rotation you choose. I also think it depends on what works for you. I've always had more success lifting heavy and doing 3 intense cardio sessions per week than doing more frequent cardio, but that's just me.

I love how fatloss rotations sound, because I'd love to lose more fat (I've got an awesome body under the final layer of chub, I just know it:p ), but I've never had much success with them in practice.

I know this doesn't help much--good luck in choosing!

Thank you for your response, Maggie. You echoed my feelings on this perfectly...right down to the awesome physique cocooned in chub.

Cheers,
Sandra

Hi Sandra.

Personally, the combo of 3 days of cardio + the heaving lifting I did during the X worked like a charm for me for fat loss. My diet never changed during the X. Only my style of exercise.

I think it's a personal thing and you need to try out different things until you find the right "fit" for your body.

Best of luck!:)

Hi Sandra,

For me what you eat is number one (probably with any rotation). Second for me would be heavy lifting with less cardio. I keep logs of everything (eating and exercise) and found this really works for me. I am an ecto and need lots of heavy lifting. I'm doing P90X right now and loving my results.
