What it says on a box of sugar....

>>But what's in Splenda?
>
>if i can't pronouce whats in it, then maybe i shouldn't eat it
>LOL.

>kassia

LOL! You have a point there Kassia.

Just for the record, when I mentioned Splenda, I didn't mean to imply that I believe Splenda is GOOD for me. I am certainly smarter than that! LOL :p I use Splenda because with the tremendous amount of coffee that I drink, at 2 teaspoons per cup, the calories I save by not using sugar REEEEAAAALLLLLY add up! :)

Hi Wendy! Believe me I can relate to the sugar/coffee thing. I used to stop at 7-Eleven every morning and get a 16oz coffee. I would put 4 (yes 4) sugar packets and 4 (again, yes 4:7 ) creamers in it. I decided to go cold turkey and start drinking it black. I've grown used to it but every now and then I'll throw the ole' sugar and cream in. But that's every now & then! I can't drink the splenda, equal or anything like that (my sister swears I can't tell the difference that I'm just spoiled:7 ) I barely like the diet sodas compared to straight up (ha) but sometimes I NEED one!:9

>"Sugar is a 100% natural simple carbohydrate. Carbohydrates
>are an important part of any balanced diet. Sugar contains no
>fat or cholesterol and has 15 calories per teaspoon."

Marketing all the way! Unfortunately, some people will fall for it, especially if it seems to encourage them to do what they want to do (eat lots of sugar!).

It's amazing how food manufacturers will try to mislead people, and make customers think that their food is healthy.

Everything it says is true, but it doesn't tell the whole story. It's faulty logic ("Sugar is a carbohydrate. Carbohydrates are an important part of a healthy diet. THEREFORE, sugar is an important part of a healthy diet." As logical as : "all men are mortal. I am mortal. THEREFORE, I am a man." )

They could also say: the container the sugar is packed in contains no fat or cholesterol!

Lava is natural as well. So is bird poo. And radioactive rocks.

I think it would make a rather crunchy (the lava would have hardened), spicey, energizing breakfast cereal, don't you think?

Ok, so this may be off topic but I can't live without my one diet pepsi per day at lunch and I DON'T care what's in it I just have to have it! I have always wondered about that splenda slash sugar stuff at the grocery store. I have even thought of buying it but it is so much more expensive thean the sweer&low that I buy for my coffee or the sugar that is next to it. Has anyone tried it for baking? Not that I bake much. LOL
