Great thread...

Favorite: the strength/endurance gains, the natural high, the results that I can clearly see in the mirror

Least favorite: people telling me I don't need to work out because I'm already the "right size"

My favorite part is the positive affect on my mood and stress levels. My least favorite part is learning new routines and not being able to finish a new, hard workout. But I use that feeling to motivate myself for the challenge. Oh yes, I absolutely, positively HATE, HATE, HATE when people who don't have a clue about training and exercise INTERRUPT my workouts. My husband knows not to (we used to lift weights together when we were dating) and I taught my daughter at a very young age to interrupt ONLY if it was an emergency. She would answer the phone and tell people, "Mommy's working out right now so she can't come to phone." and take a message. Of course, there are still lunkheads in the extended family that think it's a "silly hobby" and "just a fad".

Solara, your post really hit home with me! When I used to work nights and was home during the day, I'd workout around 9:00 or 10:00 AM. I used to answer the phone because I was always concerned it might be the school, or a real emergency. Most people who knew me would be fine when I'd tell them, "I'm in the middle of my workout - can I call you back?" But my husband's cousin (who I might add is very overweight and I don't believe has ever worked out in her adult life!) would ignore my request and prattle on for a half hour or more, oblivious. When I'd try to interject and get off the phone, she'd say something like, "I know, I know. You have to get back to your exercise. I'm almost finished." She always said the word "exercise" like it was a thing you didn't want to pick up off a bathroom floor. Then she'd just keep talking. Very passive-aggressive. And rude!! Then, we got caller ID ... LOL!! It helped a lot!!! Guess who I never again answered a phone call from while I was working out?? LOL!!

People who work out just dont get it, they think we are some rare breed of people, they shrug off like your just spinning your wheels for nothing. I make it important because without I feel like !@#$ !! I have disablities that go crazy if I dont workout, it literaly keeps me from using a cane to walk and reduces the pain. No pill can top that!! I think the people who dont respect your workout time are jelous of a commitment that they wish they had, thats what it s about!!

HA! Seems like most people I know do not understand the exercise thing.

The best part about working out - others have said it well, the way it makes me feel (first) and look (second).

The worst part - The time it takes away from other things I want to and need to do. There just isn't enough hours in a day. I go through periods of time when I don't exercise (!) but when I do other hobbies expand to use up that time. I can't do everythign I want to do, so I must choose. Darn it.

My favorite is the way I feel afterwards, and my lease favorite is trying to find the time and energy to workout.
