What is Mary's? :o And does XTrain have step aerobic workouts?

Cathlete
Hi,

I saw Mary's being thrown around here and there on this forum. I gather that it's an online fitness DVD store of some kind. But could someone please educate me with a link? I'd very much appreciate it! :)

Another question: I am looking for more training DVD's like Cathe's Low Impact and Metabolic series. Currently, I am looking at XTrain. That said, I am sorry to say that I don't like step aerobic workouts. I only use step for strength workouts such as step-ups, split lunges, etc.

THANKS! :)

Xtrain does not have step chorocgraphy but does use the step to elevate the heart rate. The 2 cardio workouts from this set that are low impact are Supersets, Low Impact Hiit and cycle. The other cardio are high impact. I do lots of low impact and modify moves when needed.

THANK YOU! :) I appreciate your taking time out to answer my questions! :)

I see that Low Impact HIIT in Xtrain series has some step movements. I previewed the clip. I did not see dancy choreography, which is good. I own Low Impact Series and many more Cathe's DVD's. I prefer non-dancy, slow-paced, athletic step moves since my ankles tend to roll in when I try to memorize the dancy moves.

I have bad ankles after 20+years of running. I have to really be careful with the step. I will modify to repeaters or something more doable when cathe and frineds start dancing around the step. I can't move fast enough and will land with my ankle rolled also.

I am sorry to hear that, but glad to hear you're taking it easy with modified moves. I am not good at dancy cardo stuff. Adding step into the mix is big trouble for me.

In your opinion, the step movements in XTrain are slower paced? To the Max has step movements, but I always skip the step aerobic warm-up. I only use step for box jumps. I love Low Impact Series! However, I skip the Step Challenge, and have never attempted the athletic training. :(

If you don't like step or can't do step due to health reasons, maybe you want to try step without the step. I couldn't do Cathe's high impact workouts for a very long time, I had a really bad case of PF/heal spur which made it impossible for me to do any kind of high impact workout. I love the weight training in Xtrain :)

ilovefitness, if you order through Mary you can use coupon code: 10off :)

I love athletic training is been a while since I did it but I don't remember having to modify. The step portion was controlled enough more athletic that I wasn't tripping all over the place. I didn't bother with step challenge or to the max.

My ankles have gotten stronger do to several years of strength/balance exercise but I don't want to push it kwim. I did Drill Max the other night this one is new to me. I'm slowly trying cathe other dvvd that aren't low impact and may have a step. I bought Drill max download and it was a fun sweat fest workout. I did modify some of the cardio step but still burned 550 calories . After having success with drill max and boot camp, I'm going to purchase To The Max next.

Its been awhile since I did xtrain low impact. I remember the step being more of step ups on each side and it being controlled moves. It was not fast frantic movements.

Hard Strikes has NO step. It has some (but not too many reps) of plyo. I just modify when I'm not up to it.
Hard Strikes is a lot of fun.

Thanks! :) Hard Strikes looks fun. ;) Love Cathe's kickboxing workouts. I don't mind plyo at all. Step aerobics and I just don't mix well. :(

Thanks bayerngirl!!! :)

I love Cathe's workouts. :) Especially strength, bodyweight and all the metabolic/HIIT workouts. I have tried step aerobics for a longest time. I hate to say this... me and step aerobics don't mix well. I just prefer athletic moves. I don't have any particular health reason to avoid step aerobics. My ankles do tend to roll in with fast step aerobic moves. To the Max is something I prefer. As mentioned previously, I skip the warm-up in To the Max and do my own dynamic warm-ups instead.

THANK YOU FOR THE COUPON CODE. :) I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

I am glad to hear you're getting stronger on the ankles. :) THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK on Athletic Training and Drill Max. The issue with me is: controlled, well-cued, non-dancy step movements are fine with me. It's the dancy, fast-paced stuff that gets me all frazzled and my ankles will roll in. Plus, overall, I just prefer 'athletic' workouts in my fitness routine.

I may need to give Athletic Training a shot then. I have that in my collection, but have not done it yet.
To the Max is more athletic and well-cued in the 'meat' of the program. I just ignore the step aerobic warm-ups and do my own dynamic warm-ups instead. :)

Ilovefitness - I'm not into dancey aerobics, either (but love some plyo!) - XTrain is one of my favourite series. There's step in Tabatacise but it's step that even I can do!

Justine!

Thanks for your feedback. Sounds like Xtrain is a good option for me atm. :)

I own lots of Cathe's older workouts. The only recent ones I have are Low Impact Series, To the Max, Cross Fire and I am looking to expand my collection. :D

Do you have any more suggestions on workouts in the line of Xtrain, LIS, To the Max, and Cross Fire? I also love Cathe's strength workouts. I have lots of her older workouts.

THANKS! :)

The Ripped with HiiT series is awesome - especially the two circuit dvds (upper and lower body) and Legs. X10 is also intense - very 'metabolic'. (The X77 pre-mix is a killer, if you have the time.) Do you have STS Total Body - that's a great strength workout?

THANK YOU, JUSTINE. Sounds like The Ripped with HiiT is another one to consider. :) Oh, yes, I have STS Total Body and the STS system. They are in my Cathe's workout collection. :) I have collected so many fitness workout dvd's that I have to write up a database to index all these workouts and make notes. I am a tech nerd. ;)

I go to the professional gym on weekends. During the week, I resort to home fitness DVD's and I feel NOT as alone. Not many girls locally share the same passion as I do for fitness and healthy diet. Usually just hang out with dudes.

Do you by any chance use the Troy Lite Barbell Set as in Cathe's videos? :) If you do, do you ever get short bars to fit those weight plates? I have 2 sets of Troy Lite. I like to see if I can get short bars for them, but right now a bit clueless. Sorry for this extra question.

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR FEEDBACK! :D
