I'm new and am in the process of getting the equipment to start Cathe's workouts. I have the Basic Step and Low Impact Step workouts and hope to get the step and tubing this weekend. At nearly 50 I'm about 10 pounds overweight and sadly in need of muscles and am hoping these will get me started.
I'm very interested in what cathe's workouts have done for others. I saw a thread last week here on Fluitity and it seemed people had better results with that than cathe, but I really need upper body strenght. Have Cathe's workouts really really made a difference to you?

It's hard to say what her workouts have done for me. I've been doing them for years, but have always been physically fit, so I didn't start her workouts with goals in mind. That said, I can tell you that I think Cathe's workouts have kept me fit and lean all these years. I'm 43 and haven't noticed any weight gain or decrease in muscle mass like some women my age. There have also been times when I've had to kick it up a notch, like before swimsuit season, and Cathe's weight workouts have always delivered great results, esp in my arms.

Now that I think about it, I almost failed to mention one very important improvement since doing Cathe. It's my endurance. Her intense cardio workouts have greatly improved my stamina, and as we age, that's one of the first things to go!

I think Cathe's DVD are some of the best, if not the best, in the home workout market. I've been doing her workouts for quite some time, so it's difficult to measure specific results. My results also vary greatly with my eating habits.

I believe Cathe's workouts have improved my overall fitness and endurance level. They are fun, interesting, challenging, good production quality, Cathe's got a great personality and this all keeps me motivated to keep pushing play every day.

Having said that, I can tell you that I personally got the best results from a P90x rotation in terms of getting leaner and getting muscle definition. I've also had noticable improvements from a Cathe slow and heavy rotation.

Cathe's workouts taught me perfect form for every strength-training exercise. I can do any workout now, and I always know my form is correct.

Cathe's workouts have taught me confidence with myself. I used to always do all cardio workouts and I never had the muscle definition. With Cathe I have improved self-confidence because of the muscle definition and I feel I am in the best shape of my life. I love Cathe workouts and dont do any one else right now.

Well...

I haven't been very consistent--I'll work out regularly for weeks or months, then completely drop all exercise for a few weeks or months, then start up again, then stop, etc.

But consistently working out with Cathe's videos gave me this moment: One day I looked in the mirror and thought "whose legs are THOSE?" My legs are naturally blah, believe me. But Cathe gives even MY legs a nice shape.

Besides my appearance, though--working out with Cathe regularly has shown me how it feels to feel strong, to feel energetic, to feel good. I hate feeling inflexible and sluggish, when I'm not doing Cathe's workouts. I hate how quickly my quads get tired when I climb steps. I hate how all my regular clothes get too small for me to wear.

Cathe's workouts have made me feel strong and attractive.

Hi Ann,

I started with Basic Step, and used it for a month with great results. Prior to Basic Step, I didn't workout or lead a very active lifestyle. I added in Low Impact Step the following month. I lost over 8 pounds using only Cathe's step dvds. I've had good results by adding in Fluidity and treadmill, but I still continue using Cathe's workouts. I highly doubt I could totally give up Cathe. I think when people say they are getting results from using Fluidity, they are adding it on to their normal workout, not replacing their workouts with bar type exercises.

Flattened my abs, strengthed my legs and arms, helps me look alot younger than my true age. Plus, you know you're in shape when you get do her workouts and not curse at the TV like I did 15 months ago when I first started with Cathe. Previously, it was all Gin, Petra, and Keli for me.

Cathe's workouts put the fun back in exercising for me. I was terribly bored with my other stuff. And she pushed me and proved that I COULD do more than I ever thought I could. When I say "push," I mean that with her workouts, I found that there are plenty of opportunities for me to push myself, I guess, where before I was stuck in a rut.

And lately, after dealing with some injuries, her Low Impact Circuit showed me that you can have a darned good workout and keep it low impact.

She's taught me the proper way to lift, too.

She's done lots of things, but what it goes back to is the fun factor. I thoroughly enjoy every workout of hers that I own.

For the first time in my life, I'm actually looking forward to wearing shirts without sleeves this summer.

So, yes, Cathe's workouts have made a big difference.

Cathe has made working out enjoyable for me. I think one of the most important things when trying to adapt a healthy lifestyle is to make eating right and exercise become habit like brushing your teeth, . .something you have to do. I know that it may sound silly, . I used to be a total gym rat. I would go all the time but I just was not challenged enough. The classes I took always had different levels in each class and the teacher had to accomadate the beginners to make them feel welcomed, . . which hey I totally understood, . .I was new once too. Well after years of being in a rut I bought my first Cathe DVD Imax 2 and boy was I ever humbled. It kicked the wind out of me, . . and from that point on I was hooked. I've added weight training, . . hiking, mountain biking, . . and exercise is fun to me. I feel motivated and everytime Cathe say's "Oh yes you can, .. " I know it sounds silly but I feel like she's talking to me, . .and you know what she's always right.I can. I've always hated home videos because of the campy elevator music in the back ground. Live classes always had fun upbeat music but Cathe's videos are NOT like that. I feel pushed and motivated. By the way I also have the fluidity bar, . . and yes I enjoy it, . .I use it one day a week in addition to my regular routine. I mentioned on an earlier post that it has helped to maintian and improve my flexability, but comparing Cathe to Fluidity is like comparing apples to oranges, . . they are just two completely different workouts. I think no matter what the workout is , . . and no matter who the instructor is you WILL see results, . . as long as you do it and you challenge yourself and of course the real hard part eat right. The important thing is finding something you enjoy. You are more likely to stick with it, . .and for me, . . that's Cathe. :p:)
