What DVD Recorder to buy?

I want to back up my VHS workouts onto DVD & wonder what DVD recorder to buy?

I bought a Samsung DVD recorder but the problem with it is it only records on DVD-R or DVD-RW all of my blank DVD's are DVD+R or DVD+RW when I put one of them in it rejects it (it reads it then opens the tray & rejects it)

I used to have a Gateway DVD recorder several yrs. ago but it died. So I am looking for one that will play DVD+R and DVD+RW (that is what the Gateway made) the Samsung seemed to play the DVD+R's ok but was kindof "IF'y" with the DVD+RW's. So I am kind of disappointed in it.

So I think that I will return the Samsung to Walmarts & keep looking - hope that someone will give me some tips on what is a good DVD recorder. What do you have?

Thanks!

i have a samsung recorder and the only brand of blank dvds i have had trouble with is JVC. i had trouble one other time but i ran a dvd lens cleaner through and bam! it was able to read the dvd again. just a thought. i don't know which model you have but i have VR330 i got back in February from Best Buy. i have stopped trusting wal-mart for electronics b/c i have had nothing but issues with everything eletronic i buy there.

I can only recommend that you DO NOT BUY a JVC one. That is what we have and we have had to send it back to the factory twice because of problems.
