What do you use to Sanitize your house?

Well, I've been sick for the past week and would really like to avoid anyone else in my house from getting what I had. So what do you use around your house to kill those nasty virus germs?

Jean

I know it sounds weird

I use the bath scrubbing bubbles. Or rubbing alcohol. Especially hit the door knobs and any stair railing. And the refrigerator door too. I hope you feel better soon.

White vinegar on washable surfaces (in head-to-head tests with bleach, white vinegar was shown to kill more germs.

Another option for hard surfaces (and toothbrushes) is a steamer.

In the air, spray some diluted essentials oil of clove.

Besides disinfecting the place, open all windows and let the fresh air circulate. I usually do this when everyone leaves for the day and do it a couple throughout.

In my office they gave everyone a can of Clorox Disinfecting Wipes but I'm not sure what to do with them. The only one who uses my office is me.

I use a lot of the Lysol Sanitizing wipes. I tried the Clorox but they left a powdery film on everything. EWW. I wasn't happy with that. I keep a container in the kitchen, bath, and garage.

You're supposed to DISINFECT after being sick? LOL Just kidding, of course. But to be completely honest, Jean.....I open ALL my windows and stick all the bed pillows IN the windows and close each room door. Not sure why.....my mom always did that after we were sick growing up, and it just carried over to MY parenting.

Gayle

p.s. Glad you're feeling better!

i have disinfectant spray but i also make sure i clean my kitchen and bathrooms often with disinfectant cleaners. right now whatever i touched had to be sprayed(doors, remote, phone) so i didn't run the chance of giving everybody in the house whatever i caught last week. whatever it was it was nasty and took me down.

As an Infection Control RN..let me say

handwashing or better yet, using the alcohol based hand gels is your best bet!!!!!!

Store bought Clorox wipes do not have bleach in them as an FYI

Read the small print- to truly disinfect a surface, depending on the type of cleaner you choose, the surface may need to stay visibly wet for up to 5 minutes. spraying it on and wiping with paper towel is not disinfecting the area

Unless the area is saturated, rubbing alcohol evaporates too quickly to disinfect the environment (inanimate objects)

sorry you asked..right!!
