Hi! My experience with getting myself to do IMAX Extreme this morning made me wonder what head games other people play with themselves, when their motivation for the day is low. I was feeling very low on energy, both mental and physical this morning, and had to do some serious self-talk to get myself started. I'm very glad I did, because I had a great workout, but some days it just seems hard to get going, even after the first cup of morning coffee. Here's the sorts of things I tell myself:
"I don't have to do the whole thing; I can stop any time I want";
"I only need to start; I don't need to finish"
"It starts off really easy and comfortable";
"There's only 8 intervals - 16 minutes out of 75, how hard is that?";
"If I start and it really isn't working for me today, I can just skip all the IMAX2 bits and do only the CW cardio";
"If I feel this lousy now, imagine how lousy I'll feel if I don't workout at all?";
And the all-purpose: "Do it anyway!"
What do you say to yourself, when you don't really want to do the workout you have planned for the day?
Cheers,
Sandra
