What do you do instead of eat?

Deberrellie, you sure come up with some wacky stuff--lol!

If it happens at home I'll sometimes try a little nap. I don't have good body awareness and sometimes when I'm just really tired I'll think I can fix it by eating. Sometimes, though, I get up from my nap and have a huge snack lol...

You ladies make me laugh!
I confess I like my sweet treats (which I prefer over fruit any day). My comprimise is that I eat one of those 100 calorie cookie packs but only after I have eaten some fruit during the day. Slowly but surely I am reprogramming my taste buds to crave the good stuff. Hell, I've only had ice cream twice this year!

Okay, I know you're going to laugh at me. I also reward myself with food. When I'm really tired and just don't care anymore about watching what I eat, I add black olives and chick peas to my salad for dinner. I also don't measure out the Newman's Lite Balsamic Vinegrette dressing. I just pour it on to taste. I did that last night.

I sound SOOOO lame. x(

OK, Shelley, Pinky, Debbie and Michele are hearby banned from this very serious thread. Embroider chips, my eye. Humph. I would much prefer to tat an eclair.

Hi Robyn! The only thing that has prevented me from bingeing on the "bad" stuff is Weight Watchers. Now, I haven't been to WW in years, but I pretty much remember the points value of the majority of the bad things I used to eat. So everytime I feel the need to splurge, I remember how many "points" that food costs and almost every time it disuades me from eating it.

I also have found that the cleaner my diet is, the less I crave those things.

May not help, but that's what keeps me away from the bad (good) stuff!!!!

Nancy - you wild woman! BLACK OLIVES???!!!!

I AM laughing at you, only 'cause you're funny.

Nancy, you are too funny! I just read your post.

I do the same thing every once in a while. The other night I was tired and cranky and told my husband that I felt like eating something really bad. I ended up on the couch with a bag of organic pretzel sticks and the jar of organic pb. My husband said "WOW! That's really bad!", sarcastically of course. My response was "Ya, well I'm not counting how many pretzel sticks I'm eating and I'm not measuring the pb!!!!!" So there....

I guess we all have our own version of "being bad"!! ;-)

That's it, Melissa. That's the way I am too.

I'm about to pick up my dinner, and tonight I think I'm going to go hog wild and add kidney beans to my salad. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. :+ :+

Even with the clown face though, I'm actually serious. I'm pathetic and my life is hopelessly dull. :(

OK - I did skip a few of the replies, but I find that if I . . .

A couple of hours passes by before I even look up at the clock ! }(

By that time you will at least be ready for a snack.

If you crave chocolate or "donut-like" get a choco protein bar of some kind. I like the South Beach bars because they are only 140 calories, 10 grams of protein, 5 grams fat and 15 grams carb.

Not too bad in my book if I don't have something handy . . .

Good luck with all of the ideas you have gotten :7

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Some I'll use, some of you (you know who you are) I will just ignore. And Nancy and Melissa, I'll never eat a kidney bean or pretzel stick again without thinking of you two bingers.

Avoid watching TV or movies, that's a huge temptation to eat crappily.

I go to bed and read: I never eat in bed.

Wash up, clean house while listening to good book on Cd, so that my hands are busy and my brain is engaged elsewhere.

Bake, cook; involved projects like making pastry and quiches from scratch, I never eat then.

Brush teeth!

Go to the bathroom and do a facial routine, this takes time and gets me out of the kitchen.

Paint my nails! Can't stick my hand in the box of Frosted flakes then!

Sit and do a pile of mending, hem seams, take up hems, etc, while listening to good book on CD for same reasons as above!

Lots of different strategies...

>Can you make that yarn, scratch and sniff?

Hmmm....chocolate-scented yarn: think there'd be a market for that?:D

I'm no help either. When I had a rough day at school I want a glass of wine! Yeah, I know this isn't good. :(
