What are you most proud of?

Zozo

Cathlete
Just curious, what exercise have you mastered that has made you the proudest?
For me, it is push ups:

Two weeks ago, I could not do more than 1 full push up, and even then it was a weak, shallow push up. However, I decided that I really really wanted to do the 72 in Gym Style Chest and triceps. So, I have not stopped doing push ups since! And omg! IT's worked! I completed all 72, and threw in an extra 8, because I was that proud!

Congratulations, Zozo! I remember when I could finally do all 72.

The one that did it for me was first chinups and then pullups. There was nothing more gratifying than getting my chin over that bar!

You guys rock!! I really suck at push ups and pull ups

I don't know if that counts but I went from being unable to jog longer than 20 sec to running 13 miles a few months ago.

I think I am more happy than proud, but I am even more grateful to my doggies for being such great running buddies and challenging me every day to go faster and further. Thanks to them and Coach Sean I dropped 125 lbs in the process.

Thank you :) Marcy, And well done to you too! I have not even attempted chinups or pullups! Do you have to have a bar for them? I'm not quite sure what they are, but they sound impressive!

:)

Yes, of course that counts! That sounds like a pretty good achievement to me! Well done :) And well done on the weight loss, that is very impressive :)
And congratilations to your dogs too. Sounds like they should be proud of you and themselves!

Yes, I have a pullup bar. You can pick one up at Target. I think it's called the Iron Gym. Or if you have a park nearby, you can practice them on the monkey bars. For a chinup, grab the bar with your palms facing towards you and lift your chin up over the bar. Pullups are done with your palms facing away from you and are harder (the wider the grip, the harder they are). You can try negatives first which are easier and a good way to get started. You start from the top (you can use a bench to get yourself up) and slowly lower yourself down. You can also do assisted pullups with bands but I never did them that way. Practice them everyday. I found consistency is key.

Zozo...I aspire! Those 72 pushups...I am uber impressed.

Carola...I had no idea you'd lost 125 pounds! That is so wonderful! What part did you feel was the hardest? Getting started or the last bit of it?

For 8 years I was the quintessential yoyo dieter, I went from 130 lbs to over 270 lbs (I stopped stepping on the scale at 274, I don't know how much the actual damage was) I tried every diet and exercise on the planet. It wasn't until my dear friend Michele forced me to get Cardio Coach workouts that I was hooked and couldn't wait for my exercise time.

The first workout was the hardest, I was so out of shape! I was huffing and puffing through the workout and at the end of the workout Coach Sean said the quote that is in my signature line and my life was never the same afterwards.

After that it wasn't really hard, I just kept going. My attitude changed, it was no longer about losing the weight and obsessing about every morsel I put in my mouth but about being healthy. I also stopped counting calories. i knew this wasn't something temporary, this was a change in life style.

People keep asking me what was the hardest part and they look at me like I lost my mind or they think I am being sarcastic when I say "It wasn't hard'. But it wasn't - once my mind was made up.

Carola, you are SO amazing!!! And I seriously doubt that I could force YOU to do anything :p. I have to say that after 3 years Cardio Coach is still my all time best and favorite fitness find. I can't recommend it highly enough... as you well know. :p :D

ETA I'm not sure what I'm most proud of. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

I'd have to say it's my running. I went from not being able to jog a mile at 5mph on a tm w/o taking walking breaks to running an 18 mile road race last October!

Definitely pikes on the stability ball. I feel like a super-hero :) The stronger my core is the stronger I feel.

I must say though, that I am proud that I have made fitness a part of my daily life and have been able to be a good example for my two daughters (7 and 4 yo). Four years ago I was 50 pounds heavier, grouchier and unfocussed. Thanks to Cathe and all the ladies on these forums (I am a constant lurker), I have stayed on track and will soon be able to do something I never imagined possible - be certified as a personal trainer.

Thank you everyone - you inspire me to be my best.
