what are steps made of?

I am really excited about joining this forum
The sport steps. Can anyone tell made what are they made of? plastic or what? Can't they be made out wood? or that would be bad for the knee?

They are made of plastic. I think if they were made of wood, they'd wear out faster. Plus, they might be heavier to schlep around and they would probably be more expensive.

I remember years ago when my health club had steps made out of wood.
