Well THAT was just depressing!

After a 2 week period of no exercising because of a nasty head-cold and then a business trip, I tried doing IMAX3 this morning. It was my first time...and I failed miserably. By the end of interval 4, I was seeing grey spots in front of my eyes. In the middle of interval 5, my ear plugged up (it had been doing that for a week, but was mostly better). I stopped at the end of 5 and then did yoga instead.

I'm not sure if it was so difficult because either #1) I haven't fully recuperated; 2) I've had a backslide on my fitness level because of the break; 3) I've been eating like crap for the last few days; 4) All of the above. I think maybe I'll go with #4.

I'll try the back 5 tomorrow with a weight workout and see how that goes. What a major bummer.

I vote for #4 too, but with emphasis on #1! You are very brave to start back w/IMAX3!!! I always start back after illness with an easier workout.

Christine :)

Did you take anything before you worked out? My head is pounding this morning with sinus pressure, but I don't want to take sinus meds because then I'll be too light-headed to work out. But I'm just DYING to get back to working out. I think it's been at least 3 weeks since I was able to work out because of an awful head cold and then just working all kinds of ridiculous hours.

I'm with you. I am absolutely determined to make this the weekend that I get back into it. Don't stop trying Donna. You never know what might have been affecting you today, and you might be just fine tomorrow.

Okay, here goes. It's going to be a long, slow road back to svelteville, but I'm taking the first step TODAY. I'm leaving for the gym NOW. Wish me luck.

After 2 weeks of being sick and no exercise, you pop in IMAX3...come on now girl...what were you thinking?

Maybe Step,Jump and Pump would have served you better. Easier cardio and some weights/abs thrown in the mix.

Don't be hard on yourself lovie! You are still a Catheite! You will be 100% before you know it!

Donna, I usually do C&W, with some modifications on the cardio, when trying to slip back into working out. The weight work is light and short enough to wake the muscle, not work it to the point of fatigue. And it has just enough cardio to jumpstart my body.

Hope you feel better.

this too shall pass!! don't worry....muscel memory right?! you are probably just not feeling up to snuff yet... and that is a hard workout on a good day when you are perfectly healthy;)

Thanks all! I hadn't done IMAX3 before, so I didn't realize how hard it was going to be. Maybe I will do C&W today instead of intervals 6-10. I really didn't think 2 weeks would have made such a difference. I've never taken 2 weeks off - but I have taken one. And with one week, I've always been very energetic going back in.

Oh well, like I said, it was a nasty cold.

Donna, I think everybody has this nasty sinus/cold thing going on. It's terrible. I have been sick and so has the rest of my family. I haven't worked out in days. I hope I get over this nasty illness soon. I just bought some new running shoes that I want to try out.
