Weights???

Cathe-

I just saw the blog posted on 2/10 and saw your barbell was really loaded up with the weight. I know everybody is different but generally, I am able to handle the same amount of weight you handle in your DVD's. So, can you please tell me the weights you used in STS? My barbell weight limit now is only 55 lbs and I see you had at least 80 lbs on that barbell. I just want to be prepared for the workouts when they come out. Also, can you give a recommendation on the type of barbell you are using? I don't think the bar I have will accommodate that much weight so I will probably have to get a new bar. I am not so concerned about the free weights as I have quite the variety of free weights. Thank you.

Cathe had 4 plates (11 lb's each) on each side of the barbell and that means the total weight including the bar was about 90 lb's. The bar is either a Body Pump bar or a Troy Light Barbell.

I'm not sure where you can buy them, but just do a search for 5kg weights. If you're USA I would just suggest sticking with 10 lb weights.

i don't think they do????

troy lite doesn't plus they have an 80 pound capacity on their bars!

The Troy Lite Workout System features the black oxide painted “lite” bar which has a maximum capacity of 80 lbs. yet weighs only 5 lbs. The 54” length bar makes it ideal for use in group exercises. The compact Troy Quiet Iron™ rubber enclosed weights help prevent damage to the floor and equipment and take up little space. The spring collars safely hold the rubber plates on the bar but allow for quick changing of the plates.

they seem to have 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10 pound weights...

i tried googling the other company and can't find any info!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

There are little plugs on the weights that Cathe is using. These look filled with something. These also appear to be the type of weights used in the Body Pump classes at my gym, but ours say 10lbs. The bar at the gym seems lighter in weight than the Troy light bar I have at home.

I have in the past put 80+lbs on the Troy bar and it does have the slightest curve to it...it not something I would use overhead with this weight, but it works for rows.

I do also own a set of plates weights that are so, so old....sand filled...I think. I don't use them, but these have are odd weight sizes. The large ones are 14.3 lbs and then are some 8.8 lbs ones, too.
