Weightloss Checkin 4/2/01

I was surprised to see posts asking that we continue the check-in!! I thought for sure the interest had fizzled but
guess folks were just busy with that thing called life!

I followed a great week with a lousy lazy one. Why do I lose my focus just when I start making progress???????????!!!

I worked out once last week, did not weigh or measure this past Sunday because I had a love affair with ice cream last week and didn't want to know.

I received the CTX series and Christy Taylor's Step Heaven & Hi/Lo Heaven in the mail Saturday. I was tickled pink!! I've only previewed "kickbox" so far it looks fun and they look awesome!

I'm wondering if CTX would be good for my weightloss goals or if I should stick to longer cardio tapes and save CTX for later?? I posted at "ask cathe" but no answer...does anyone here know?

Well no looking back! I'm going to do my best this week!!!

Hi Crystal!

It is good to see you striving for a good week this week. Good for you! We all have set backs. I posted to you over at "Ask Cathe". Good Luck and have fun with your new tapes!

RE: Hi Crystal!

I have been using the CTX series for the last 4 weeks and have not had significant weight loss. I did not do great on my eathing though. I am on my last 10 or so pounds which have proved much more difficult to get off than my first 10 and the following 30 pounds. I have changed to longer cardio because I think that will help, me anyway. Everyone responds differently and I do understand lifting weights is great too for weight loss but I think the cardio is what really does it for me. I will continue lifting weights but I am going to try to per more emphasis on cardio and see if that makes a difference so I can get those last few pounds off. It's driving me crazy that they are STILL with me!!!!

Don't be discouraged Crystal. I have not done that great with my eating lately and I need to tighten down and get busy! We all have bad weeks. Just pick yourself up and do better next time. There are always next times!!!! Thank goodness!

Have a great week!

Kelly

Hi,

Both of your weeks are better than mine. I'm still majorly stressed out, worse this week. Got up in the middle of the night last night and polished off the rest of the ice cream.

I'm going to do my 45 min. TT2. Cathe cardio works real good for weight loss for me, but I'm scared I'll get off track. So, I'll at least have some muscle. Well, I'll get there.

Helen

Hi crystal, we all have bad weeks, so hang in there!
Helen, sleep eating, I've done that a few times, finally broke the habit, but it takes time. I love TT2, it has a good balance - better than TT1 I think.

I lost 2.6 lbs this week at my weight watchers weigh in yesterday. But tonight I was really bad, I skipped dinner and went out to BJs warehouse club without the kids and passed a McDonalds and ate a quarter lb cheesburger and medium fries. Hey, at least I had the diet coke! At least my weigh in is not until Tuesday so I'm gonna do step heat in the a.m. and be really good for the rest of the week.

Hey Marci,

I had to chuckle a little when I read your post. You sounded like a little kid trying to pull something on your mom. That cheeseburger and fries sure sound wonderful, hope you enjoyed every bite! LOL! I'm sure the diet coke balanced it out! Don't you think? Anyway, 2.6 pounds is great. Keep it up!

Kelly

Hey Kelly,

Well right back at ya, your post made me chuckle! You are right, thats exactly how I felt. Funny thing is I really did enjoy it- yum!!! but I felt guilty because I don't even like my kids eating at McDonalds, oh if only my 4 year old know mom was eating McDonalds french fries!!!! Then I had to sneak the garbage in the house so my 4-year old would not catch me! Funny when as a parent you have to sneak around your kids :) Its almost embarrasing to order a diet coke with the fatty food, but hey gotta draw the calorie line somewhere :)

I know it was not "on program" but hey, if I eat well the other 6 days, and I've been doing great in my excercise it won't affect me too much.

Marci

AMYNICOLE Can I be nosy and ask how many points you are working with. I lost 17lbs from August to November last year on WW. I have hit a plateau since. Thanks.

My week went okay. I am a little frustrated with myself. I will lose 2lbs one week and gain it back the next. I will not give up somehow, some way it will click and I will eventually lose it.

I am going to exercise more this week and keep a food diary.
Nikki

You guys sound just like me with the love of ice cream and the 1/4 pounder with cheese. We just have to have a good attitude about it and not make it like a routine.

Congrats on the 2.6lb..that is excellent!

I have HiLo Heaven too...and I just love it...it is such fun!

I have hit a plateau too...I lost 20lbs about 3-4 years ago and have stayed roughly this weight since then.

I'm going to try no sugar in my tea and no (or very little) margarine when I have a sandwich and see how that affects me.

Good luck on the food diary...can't seem to get that to work for me right now...used to do it and it worked great then.

No weight loss for me this week...I ate out too much...gonna have to work on how to order from a menu...I think at WW they tell you how to go about that. I guess you can't eat fresh, warm scones and cream and jam and call it a nourishing meal...sure was good though.

The last two days have been pretty good eating wise...I love to eat...I just have to make wiser choices!

Keep on staying healthy!

It's possible to make substitutions that will save you hundreds of calories, and you won't even miss them. I have books at home....I'll have to go through them and write down some titles to suggest to you. You WON'T have to eat less, just lighter. And READ, READ, READ your nutrition labels!!! It's all about eatin' smarter.

Hi Nikki,

I just entered 22-27 this week so its a new low for me (was 24-29)

honeybunch, I should look into books for substitutions- any suggestions?

Susan- warm scones and cream- tasty yes, a real meal hmmmm :)

I wish I did not like fatty stuff or sweet stuff but thats not the case for most of us, I guess we just need to learn to moderate/avoid/subsitute. Thank goodness I love to excercise :)

Marci

I totally agree!!

I use lots of substitutions for myself and my family. The food is very satisfying and we don't even miss the fatty stuff. Instead of a fast food meal, I make Boca Burger cheeseburgers with fat-free cheese and oven baked frozen french fries. Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss (is that right?) is a wonderful book that illustrates how much you can eat when you choose the right foods. It's fun to experiment and come up with healthier versions of junk foods!!

RE: I totally agree!!

Yes!!! Dr. Shapiro's book is one that should be required reading for anyone with weight issues!!!

RE: I totally agree!!

I'll have to see about Dr. Shapiro's book. I do like 'normal' food...if you know what I mean...I like the hamburgers and fries and stuff like that so the book sounds right up my alley. Thanks for the suggestions! I look forward to any other book titles you would recommend too.
