I am really considering buying the Home version of WW this week. I know a lot of people say WW is a great program. I need some support from the boards because it would be a big leap for me and need that support/motivation to stick with it.

Anyone up for a WW check in no matter which workouts you ar working with.

Rhonda

Hi Rhonda,

I've just started the online version of WW today. I'm getting married in the Bahamas on May 1st so I want to lose some weight for it. I've been trying on my own for a while and I just can't get rid of the last 5-10, so I am biting the bullet.

If you want to check in together, email me. I need all the motivation I can get. :)

I'm up for it..I've been doing the online version of the WW program for 17 wks now and I'm am very pleased with my results thus far and lost instead of gaining those usual holiday pounds. As far as support the forums over there are good but I get most of my motivation here with other Catheites.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. I still cannot get myself to spend the money but I did tell hubby I was going to buy it and it costs $100. He said OK so that should tell me to go ahead and do it. OK, tomorrow I will take the plunge since I don't have time now to go order it.

Would love to check in either here at Cathe or privately.

Thanks
Rhonda

Have you considered doing the online version? It is cheaper and still works. It seemed to be all I needed. I was on it in Sept. of 2002 for three months and lost 15 pounds. I never bought any of the home stuff. You can take a free tour of the online version at the website. :)

Rhonda,
I have been doing the online version for 2 weeks and already lost 3.5 lbs. I really like doing it online. Maybe consider trying that for 3 mths. ($60.00) and then getting the home kit after. IMO, you get alot more for the money with online.
The boards are very inspiring too. I used to only use these forums, but now I do both.

If you are doing on-line, come on over to the Fitness Challenge forum. We have a very active group called Makin Muscles. Very supportive and fun. It even has a yahoo site with our pictures and a lot of us are doing the presidential fitness challenge and earning medals.

Just for information I have lost 35 pounds on WW and have been lifetime since June.

Rhonda I would recommend WW to anyone. I lost 40 pounds AND six sizes in six months. By the way, I did it online too. The boards are a bit different from here, but you can find plenty of support over there as well. It costs less than the home program, and you can cancel anytime and just continue on your own, once you get the hang of it. You don't have to pay to post on the boards. There is a formula to calculate points on your own, as long as you know the calories, fat grams, and fiber of each food item. There's also a formula for calculating AP's - Activity Points - which I liked better than using theirs online because the formula takes into account your intensity level. I made goal on October 27 of 2003, and have maintained since then on my own, just following it on my own. Now, I'm logging my food and activities for free at FitDay.com, and using a 45/30/25 ratio for carbs/protein/fat, based on information I've found here, and in various articles I've read. I don't want to lose any more weight, but rather now I'm working on building muscle.

Anyway, whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best of luck!! I believe you'll find plenty of support for WW here and on the WW site!!

I have been reluctant to join Weight Watchers in an official sense because I invisage that doing Cathes workouts will stimulate muscles and therefore will play havoc with the scales so I have a points book and I do it from home.
How do you allow for the muscles? What have been your experiences?
Obviously the losses are in weight and inches but here in Australia there is so much more emphasis placed on those scales.
That is why I have not joined WW. Over all, the online service sounds great but that one aspect is holding me back.

Well, others may have had different experiences, but I was working out first with the Firm and FitPrime while on WW, then with Cathe the second half of my six months on the program, and I lost an average of 1.4 pounds per week, even while strength training. I've seen trainers post on here that is takes a long while to actually gain weight from muscle. You might see transient gains since new muscle holds water for a period, but overall I lost consistently, and I was hoisting 40 pounds onto my back to do squats in Cathe's videos by the end of the six months. Like I said, others may have had different experiences, but I did lose weight at the same time I was strength training, so allowing for muscle growth was something I never worried about while doing WW. I've maintained my weight for two and half months now, and I do strength training three days a week. Hope this helps!!

Carol is a great example of what you can accomplish with good nutrition (WW) and a good exercise plan. I think that we pay far too much attention to the scales and far too little time on ideal body composition (have a healthy fat to muscle ratio) and that should be the indication not weight. Though strength training does stimulate muscle mass, it is only going ot help you with fat loss and that should be motivation enough. Think weights. Cardio. And you'll be looker fab in no time at all...good luck x

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the responses. I decided to buy the home plan, not sure how long it will take to get. I thought I would receive a confirmation e-mail but haven't yet. If I don't get anything, I will e-mail in a couple of days to find out.

I do work out 5-6 days a week so that isn't a problem. So I am hoping doing WW and working out I will lose the unwanted "fat" and be ready for summer.

Thanks again,
Rhonda
