I have finally succumbed to buying this. I know there are a few of you out there who has tied this, but my main question is, do you add the extra points daily, if you do cathe weight video and cardio, how many points do you add on? Also, I remember reading in a thread that somebody asked how many points a day you get and for my weight it said 25, but my book says 22???? Can anybdy help?

thanks

Lynne

I have been a lifetime member of Weight Watchers for 14 years. In the fall I needed to get my act together to loose 10 lbs that had "magically" appeared. I decided that rather than deal with the exercise thing I would eat around 25 points a day. On the few days I did not exercise I ate a few less. I also figured that once I lost the pounds, eating around 25 points would allow me to maintain my weight loss. So far it has worked great.

Be careful when determining your lifetime goal. Remember the weight chart is not as important as how you feel and look. Using Cathe's tapes I have built more muscle than the average person on the weight chart. (No I am not bulky but well toned) I am 5'4" and weight around 130-134 depending on the day. I wear an 8 or 6. Since muscle weighs more than fat, I weigh in at the higher end of the chart.

The Weight Watchers new program is excellent. It allows alot of flexibility and encourages good eating and a healthy lifestyle. It is a program that you can stay on for the rest of your life. If you detour from the program, don't become discouraged. Just just get back on and accept you are human. Believe me the hardest part is maintaining a consistent weight. Good luck.

Can you get a book on the weight watchers 123 program without actually joining?

Thanks, Debbie

The only way you can get a copy of the program without joining is if you can find a member who is willing to share it with you. The meetings can be very helpful. Around where I live there are places you can weigh in without attending meetings, but you still have to pay. If you go to a meeting and join they will give you the first week book which has the basic program. They will also give you a special tool to help you figure out point values of packaged foods and recipes taking fiber and fat content into account. There also is a book for about $8.00 which gives alot of point values. A good web site to check out is "dottiesweightlosszone.com" It has links to other interesting sites which may list some point values. If you think in terms of the food pyramid, you will know pretty much how to organize your food choices. Hope this is helpful.

There are a couple of other ways to get the materials without officially joining WW. One is their At Home kit which is available in some areas. If you go to their web site the phone number should be there, and I'll look for it in the meantime. Another way to get the materials is on eBay. Some of the auction prices go very high, so bide your time and wait for a good bargain. I got my original set for $35, while others were going for $100+.

I would be really careful with e-bay. Some people are really greedy. Example: I bought a 12 week journal today at my meeting and paid $4 I've seen people asking as much at $20 for it. Do you have a friend or someone you know going then maybe you can have them pick up stuff for you if you offer to pay for it.

Thank you everyone for your help. I will check out some of your suggestions or maybe even join.

Debbie

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm bidding right now on Ebay on an At Home Kit. I know what the top price is to order direct from WW, so I'm planning accordingly. I've always wanted to get their information without going to the meetings. This site constitutes my meetings!
