Weight Training

Cathlete
Hi! I'm new to Cathe and this board. I've been working out for 20 years, or have I. I found Cathe last month on Fit-TV and am hooked. I've been working out to the condensed version on FIT-TV and am getting ready to make my first purchase of a full length workout.

Okay, getting to the point. I keep reading on this site that one should wait 48 hours between weight training sessions. Does a workout such as bootcamp constitute weight training?? Should I weight (ha, ha) 48 hours before doing push/pull or supersets??

Hoping someone can help me out with this.

Thanks so much to all of you who are giving me a real education!!!

Hi, twosqaured!
If you do Boot Camp as it is shown, it is a circuit workout that includes upper and lower body weight training. You should not do another weight training workout the next day. (The 48-hour rule, whichh is a generalization. Maybe some people recover sooner, and some people need more time, but it seems to work well as a general guideline.)

Do a cardio workout the day after Bootcamp, then do P/P or S/S the next day (though it's easy to get caught up in doing TOO MANY weight workouts: muscle grows during recovery, and if you don't allow it enough recovery, it will not get stronger or grow).

You'll love Cathe's workouts on DVD. They are so much better than the FitTV verions (premixes, ability to take the breaks you want and need, and complete workouts--FitTV sometimes edits out things like warm-ups!).

Thank you so much for the information. I don't want to over do it and get injured. I am so excited to have a full length workout - it just soooo overwhelming to choose.

Thanks again!!!
