Weight loss checkin

Steppingup

Cathlete
I was just wondering how everyone was doing. I did not eat too well Sunday and Monday of this week so I didn't start off too well but I did really well last week. I am afraid to weigh and will probably wait another week or two before I weigh again. I can't tell any differences in my clothes yet. I have been exercising very strongly though and have had a bit more energy.
I started a running (more like jogging actually) program yesterday and I am surprisingly sore today in my calves, hips, stomach and even some in my upper body. Talk a total body workout. It always amazes me that no matter how good a shape you are in if you try something different you are using your body and muscles in a different way and will feel that difference.

Anyhoo, how is everyone?

Kelly

Hey Kelly,
May I join in too? I've also been trying to lose some weight. I think it would be great to have a place to get support and report how things are going!:)

Hi Tracey,

Please feel free to join. I don't know where everyone else is but there are several of us who are trying to lose some poundage. We just talk about how we did the week before with out eating and exercise and usually check in on Monday or there abouts. If you choose you can tell us your goals and how far you are from them but you don't have to. The checkin is what you make it. Hope it helps to motivate!!!!

Welcome!

Kelly

Welcome to the 'new guys' :) Tracey and Thea and Hi to an 'old' ;-) guy Kelly.

This check in does help with my motivation. I am now down 7 pounds from my most recent weight loss attempt and my clothes feels looser too! Most excellent!

I am leaving for Calgary on Sunday to visit my sister and her family and attend the wedding of my niece, so I'll be away again for a while. My dad is dissapointed that he will miss it.....he is still getting his strengh back in the hospital, but at least he is well enough that we feel we can leave him for this length of time.

I may have a problem with ice cream out there.....they all love it. I'll just do the best I can.....after all I will be on vacation!

I haven't done much exercise for a while....with staying nearer my dad. I am still waiting for my Cathes' but I did get Christi's and did Still Jumpin'. Lots of fun. I think I'll go do Step Heat right now just to see if I can get through it after an absence of over 3 weeks. If I try something harder it would probably kill me.....as it is I'll probably be doing a lot of puffing!

See you again in a few weeks....hopefully no bigger! :)

Hi Everybody,
Sorry for checking in so late this week. I was putting off my "weigh-in", hoping there'd be a LOSS if I waited a few more days, LOL. I finally weighed myself this morning, and unfortunately, I am holding steady at the same weight as last week. I am glad that I didn't gain, though. And I also feel like a couple of pounds are about to drop, cuz I've been going strong with my good eating plan and I can feel that it must be working. Hopefully next week I'll have a loss to report.

I've been following the featured rotation that Kathy S. posted, and really really enjoying it!!! Of course I had to substitute Rhythmic Step for one of the cardio workouts this week....what a fun workout!!!! I plan to continue on with Week 3 of this featured rotation BEFORE I get into the new strength tapes (don't I have good will power, LOL!).

Kelly, great job with the running!! I can really relate to you saying you are putting off the weighing in for a little while!!!

Susan, WOW!! 7 lbs. down!!!! That's awesome. Have a great trip!

Welcome to Thea and Tracey. Jump right in, post how you're doing with your eating, workouts, weight, how you're feeling, WHATEVER!!!!

Keep up the good work, troops!:)
Deb

Hi Everybody! Thanks for the welcome! I think that having a place to post will really help me out a lot. It sounds like all of you are doing great and are very supportive of each other. Keep up the good work! It can get hard sometimes, can't it? I just received my new Cathe tapes yesterday. I only ordered RS and PH, and watched RS last night. All I can say is, WOW! It looks like so much fun! I think I will give it a try tomorrow morning. Also, after that I broke down and order the S&H series this morning! I just couldn't help myself. Anyway, I have been following a rotation doing the PS series 2X per week (I only do the standing portion of SLA though) with cardio about 5X per week. I have been running since last winter, and have stopped seeing results, so I think I'm going to change and do more Cathe cardios! My main goals are to lose fat and gain a little more muscle and definition. In the past 2 1/2 years or so I've lost about 25 lbs. I think I would like to lose about 15 more, but have also realized maybe I shouldn't get so hung up about the numbers on the scale. I also will admit that my eating habits are usually good, but every couple of weeks I seem to get off track and that is probably why I haven't seen any progress in a while. I've gotten back on track though and hopefully I will stay there! I love these forums! I am a college student and classes will be starting again in about 4 weeks, so I will have to be more efficient with my workouts! Thanks again for the welcome everyone and stay strong!:-jumpy

Hi there!
Welcome to Thea and Tracey!
Unfortunately I gained some weight this past week. I went camping with my boyfriend and we ate things like chips and s'mores (and wine & beer)! Even two full days of hiking did not offset these yummy delights. Well, time to get back on track this weekend!
Take care,
Cruncholi

Hi everyone...mind if I join also...

Just getting back on track and have a lot of weight to lose...down ten pounds so far...and just getting started on the videos...so you will be hearing from me again...

This is great having a support group of great ladies out there.

Thanks again.

Kathleen

Crucholi, it's easy to get off track when you are away from you normal routine. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's good for the body to have a change. Since you did all that hiking your exercise did not suffer any.

Kathleen, welcome to our humble checkin. I have used videos during all of my weight loss. I started at the first of the year 2000 and have been doing videos since. It hasn't done much for my pocketbook but it has been fun and I've seen results. I think it's money well spent.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!

Kelly

Hi! I'd like to join in too, if I could.

I have about 10 lbs to lose and am having trouble with even 1! I am getting heavily back into Cathe's step videos as I haven't noticed any results (except better quad definition) with 3x per week jogging & Cathe upper (MIS)& lower body weights (SLA) once or twice each per week, either. :-hmmm

It's nice to know we're not alone and it's great to find a community of like-minded ladies for encouragement and motivation.

Thanks!

Sandra

Just reread all of your posts...and how great this is!!! Really, girls...you are all so genuine and caring!!

Maybe some of you that have more of the tapes than my lowly ONE might recommend one of the step tapes for someone like myself...shall we say...uncoordinated! Even the warm up on the MIS tape intimidates me! Perhaps, I needn't worry about it...just do some sort of cardi warm up ...even without the step or in place ...

Well, I will check in on Monday and let you know how the weekend went. It is hot and muggy here in the Catskills...our first really warm summer weather so food holds no interest for me at all.

Take care all...see you later.

Kathleen

Oh Kathleen, you only have one tape?????? Horrors!! Just kidding. Tell us a little about what you like, what you want and what all of your goals are and I'm sure we can recommend SEVERAL videos for you. I have about 60 tapes and there are about 100 (exaggerating just a little) more that I want/need.

As far as step videos, Step Heat or Mega Step Blast might be a good start. Also The Wedding Video is fairly basic and has light weight work at the end. If you want to try other instructors I could recommend a few there also. The more you do step the easier it gets sometimes you just have to put a little time in concentrating on the choreography. Believe me I'm not that coordinated either.

Kelly

That is good to hear that I am not the ONLY one that "sees" herself as a clutz...just our perception of ourselves. Well, I was married for thirty years to an exercise fanatic who hated to dance...and then had a two year relationship with the same man...or it seemed like it!...who hated to dance....and now that I am single...I feel....ta da da dum...like there is a dancer just waitin' to happen. So, I will give the step a chance...practice a lot. The weightlifting I won't have a problem with...I have swimmer shoulders and lumberjack biceps...and love it!!!! I think variety is nice though...so...I will add to my tapes as the budget allows. I have had a few other instructors in the past but find many annoying. I liked Cathe's delivery and no-nonsense attitude...serious stuff!!!

So, will be checkin in with you ladies...

Hugs
Kathleen
