Weekend Melting

RE: can I sneak in?

Hi BreckGirl -- Welcome to our group! It would be fun to have you join us! We don't misbehave quite as much as we did on "nipple day" -- or do we??! ;-) You know, it took me a few months to even notice the check-in groups, too, since my computer doesn't automatically show them, as it does with the other forums. Weird, huh?

Kara -- OMG! You pooooor thing!! You are not self-absorbed at all -- WTH is happening with all this awful house stuff??? OK, at this point, don't you think you should really stay home from WI so you can get all this mess straightened out? Could DH take Colin and Emma and go without you? Of course, I wouldn't want you to have to straighten this all out on your own, but would it be a good way to not have to deal with family for two weeks??}(

Lainie -- Hooray for a lazy day at home! Oh, I couldn't even imagine having all those people staying with me -- you must be so patient! I hope your orthodontist visit isn't too awful on Tuesday -- just when you were able to eat real food!

Allie -- Where have you been all weekend??? We miss you! Let us know you're alright, even if you don't feel like chatting, OK?:)

OK, off to do Strike Zone! Hi-YA!

RE: can I sneak in?

Shelley, babe! -- Can I ask you a HUUUUUGE favor? Mike's b-day is in a couple of weeks, and I was thinking that it would be cool to get him some stuff for gaming/D&D, but I have NO idea what to get him. If it's not too much of a pain, would you maybe ask Chris about any cool gaming/D&D-type websites or products? I was thinking that even a gift card would be a good idea . . . . But only do it if it's not a total bother/pain, OK??

It's been such a quiet weekend around here . . . . I think I can hear the tumbleweeds blowing through our thread . . . . Hope that means that all you lovely ladies are out having fabulous afternoons! :)

Hey everyone,

So for those of you who have been on the RT's before, do people usually bring gifts for Cathe? I told Mike the other day that I was thinking of making a bracelet for Cathe, and he started laughing at me. x(

BreckGirl - welcome! You'll have to share something about yourself! Yes, we (I?) are nosey nellies. Your nipple remark cracked me up.

Leanne, I think you should feel free to take a gift for Cathe if you feel so inclined. The July RT is so close to her birthday that they usually take a collection to buy her a group gift. Last year, one of the RTers brought everyone a towel embroidered with Cathe's logo and Road Trip 2007. Enjoy your day to yourself.

Kara, whew, good thing you caught the outlet before you had a fire. Scary! Glad to hear Colin is home. Did have have a wonderful time?

Lainie, yes, I have brownies and blueberry pie in the kitchen. I can resist the brownies, but had a small piece of pie last night. I had starved all day yesterday, so didn't feel guilty at all. How many will be at your 4th party? Family and/or friends?

I finished GS C&T. The pushups were hard! I've been lazy about doing them in other workouts lately. I've been doing pretty well with the melting though. I'm almost back to my pre-birthday weight. I'd like to get down another 5 after that, before the pre-RT. BreckGirl, are you going to either RT?

Absolutely! I’m an open book. Wasn’t sure if I should go into detail about me on my very first post, just in case. :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me!

I’m married (going on 11 years), no kids (by choice). I say “by choice” but honestly, we haven’t ever tried to get pregnant… We both love children, just don’t think we want any of our very own. We love being the aunt and the uncle!

Fitness has been part of my lifestyle for as long as I can remember, although in various levels of intensity and focus. Just got braces almost 3 weeks ago (LAINIE!!!) so I’m on a diet by default (this is the best kind – no choice). I heart shopping like you ladies, though lately I’ve become more reclusive (so to speak) and done most of my shopping online. Or dunno… could be laziness…

By trade, I’m a speech –language pathologist. Spent 9 years working with pediatrics. For the past 2 years I’ve specialized in dysphagia (swallowing disorders), so I work on a mobile medical clinic and we travel around providing MBSS (Modified Barium Swallow Studies) for various and assorted facilities and patients at home. (All ages, except infants – right now, anyway. We’re adding another clinic soon to our fleet, and the plan -as it stands- is to include equipment on the new clinic so we can provide the service to the tiny itty bitties too!)

As you can see, I love parenthetical remarks. I’m also in love with the semicolon, but not sure exactly how to use it appropriately. ;) With the fabulous exception of course, of the winking smiley!

Now for “personals.” I don’t know how you all keep up with everything, but I’ll give it my best shot…

Hey Leanne – my MIL makes jewelry, too – not with the intricate beadwork that you do – but I am amazed with your talent! I have a respect for how much time, patience and creativity it takes! She has 5 kilns and works primarily with dichroic glass. She also knits these metal bracelets (more like a cuff) and works beads into those. So cool! I think it’s a VERY sweet idea to make Cathe a bracelet. I bet she’d absolutely love it.

Shelley – I just purchased my first CC. I got Vol 2, but haven’t done it yet. You’re amazing with the 8.25 miles bit… I want to get CCPP, but am a little skuurred. BTW, I heart limecat. Always have.

Kristi – love your avatar, too! You’re one hot mama!! You look like a happy lady.

Deb – what a DARLING picture!!! So sweet. Is that a schnauzer? (Is that a dumb question?)

Robin – where did you and DH go to eat? I love going out to eat… er… I used to. I don’t get a whole lot of pleasure from food anymore. (Since the installation of massive amounts of metal in my mouth – all I taste is metal! Plus, I can’t exactly chew… which can be problematic when one is out in public…) :7 And an evening on the patio with a glass of wine??? Sounds heavenly! No, not going on either Road Trip… although I’d love to. I’m not one for large crowds really. Though it seems like the RTs are more “friendly” than “crowded.”

Kara – didn’t your breaker trip? Seems like it should have if it was getting that hot… that’s scary!!!

BBL, gonna go start dinner for the man. Just finished some weight work and iCycle 31. Need to clean up a bit first!

Thanks again for the welcome!!!

:) :) :) :)

Hi Robin -- Thanks for the heads-up about the gift for the RT. I wasn't sure if it was silly or not, but I always feel touched when students give me a gift or card at the end of the semester. Sounds like you're having a wonderful day today! Did the picnic end up working out for today? Those brownies and that pie would be long gone around here . . . I have a horrible sweet tooth. :9 Hooray on getting through those push-ups! I'll be starting a week of GS on Wednesday, and I'm already dreading all those dang push-ups.

Hi BreckGirl -- Thanks for the sharing more info about yourself! :) One of our friends is a speech pathologist at some local elementary schools, and it sounds like such a rewarding profession. It must be fun to work with the little ones. That is so cool that your MIL has five kilns! I took a dichroic glass class last year, and it was really fun, but the few pieces I made ended up looking really bad, so they're just hiding in a drawer. :-( I think I might make Cathe a bracelet, if it wouldn't be too dorky. It's funny about what you said about having kids -- my DH and I are the same way. We really love children, but just haven't wanted any of our own. I heart on-line shopping, too! Ah, the elusive semicolon! It's used when putting together two complete sentences that could each stand on its own; each side has to express a complete thought. (Sorry -- it's the English teacher in me! ;-) See, there's that winky smiley!)

So do you think that 4:30 is too early to eat dinner?! I just got done doing Ana and Ravi's Yoga Beauty Bliss, and I'm starving. I'm home by myself, so I may just go for it. Mmm . . . leftover pizza!:9

Running in late!

Breckgirl! Welcome! Thanks for the intro. Do we call you Breckgirl, BG or will you enlighten us as to your "real" name?:p Your job sounds absolutely fascinating! Don't be scurred of CCPP! It's tough, yes, but about the most inspiring workout you'll ever do! I promise!

Robin - how was the picnic thingie? Did you end up outdoors or in?

Leanne - okay, I consulted with the D&D expert (actually, not Chris... another friend is over who plays D&D regularly) and he suggested mats or tiles and figures for gaming (apparently it's more fun to do the fights with miniatures than trying to imagine - who knew?) and he said you can find lots online if you Google D&D gaming miniatures. I hope that helps! How was your leftover 'za?

I had a pretty nice day expect Aunt Flo arrivedx( And now I'm off to hang out with the guys and watch them shoot zombies on the Wii. Yeehaw!

Aw, thank you, thank you so much, Shelley! I REALLY appreciate your asking them! I'll do some Googling and see what I can uncover . . . . The leftover 'za was mighty good! Sorry that Aunt Flo arrived! :-(

I wonder if Tneah is back yet . . . . I've been sending her and Kristi safe traveling vibes . . . . :)
