Hey sorry to be so far O/T BUT I know a few of you live in NJ. This summer we may be in southern NJ. Can someone give me a quick recap of the beaches - Cape May, Wildowood? How crowded is it? How are the beaches?

THANKS so much!

Hey Robyn!

Come see us if you come! Where exactly are you thinking of coming? The beaches are only about 45 minutes from Cathe!!!! If you come, you will have to let Francine & me know!

The beaches are always pretty crowded but not so much so that you won't find a place for your blanket. I grew up in North Jersey, so the beaches I like are not what the Southern Jersey people like.

I did not like Wildwood at all. I found it to be too "teenager" oriented. We could hardly move on the boardwalk at night.

I go to Point Pleasant or Seaside Heights. I like Seaside for it's family & older adult flavor. I think the food is better on Seaside's boardwalk. The boardwalk is less crowded at night--still crowded but at least we can walk.

Cape May is a pretty town. Very quaint. I haven't been on the beach & don't even know if there is a boardwalk there.

Keep us posted & give us a shout when you know if you are coming.

Hey, I went to Cape May last year for a week, and going again in July For a week. It is wonderful. The beach is great not as crowded as the other South Jersey shores. The town is wonderful. I love the old houses and seeing the horses going down the street. I think Wildwood is more crowded. All I know is I can't wait to go!! Have fun what ever you do;-)

Hi!

I live about 20 miles from the "shore" towns and have to say that Ocean City is my favorite, especially the southern end which tends to be a little more quiet. If you have kids, there's a boardwalk on the northern end with amusements, food, etc., and the beaches are very nice. It's also a dry town, so there's no nightlife or rowdiness going on.

Townsends Inlet, which is the southern end of Sea Isle City, is also very nice, as is Avalon.

I've been to Cape May (which is a beautiful town), but never to the beach so I don't want to comment on that!

I agree with the Wildwood comment. It can be a really rough town and their beaches are very large, so depending on where you are, you really have a hike to the water!

Wherever you decide, have a great time!

Michele

Thanks guys!

I knew you'd have the info! YES sounds like we want to stear away from Wildwood! I'll look into the town you all mentioned... Yep, nice beaches, a boardwalk, not too crazy though. Yes I've got kids so that sounds great.

We are going to be looking at school in PA, MD, VA and I want to get some fun side into the vacation. THANKS so much !

ohhh! ohhh! ooohhhhhhhhh! Now stuck in Minnesota, but lived almost blissfully in Spring Lake, NJ for 7 years. Beautiful, beautiful town- quiet type of beach town. Victorian homes. Beautiful park in the center (a spring-fed lake, thus it's name). I'd move back in a heart beat and would definitely recommend vacationing there. Several bed and breakfasts around. Sigh, it really is gorgeous.

If you do decide to visit, can let me know and I can give you the scoop on all the good places to eat and visit! The chamber of commerce does have a page up so- don't know the exact address, but a search would be simple to do.

Hope you get there!
Mary
